length of surgery....

Does anyone know about how long an abdominal hysterectomy takes? I have a lot of scar tissue from 3 c-sections- I know that made my last c-section take longer to do. Just curious how long everyone's surgery was.
Thanks,
Luain

I know everyone surgery is a bit different in time depending on what needs to be done. My Doctor told me mine lasted an hour and a half, said the fibriod was around 2 pounds too, and almost didn't fit through the bikini cut he did. ahhhh... but i do feel much better now

Take care

Hi Luain, Your Gyn should be able to give you a gestimate re how long your surgery will take. Of course this may vary somewhat depending upon how much has to be done once he gets a look "inside." I had a TAH/BSO, not quite routine since an oncologist also was present and had to do some procedures, and the op only took 1 3/4 hours which was just about the low end gestimate my gyn had provided me. s peggiesue

My TAH/BSO took 2 1/4 hours, but your doctor should be able to approximate the time. Then I was in recovery for 1 1/2 hours.
Best wishes!

My doctor guessed that it would take at least four hours but it was done in just over two. He was amazed that after 3 C-sections I had very few adhesions. The less they find to do the quicker the surgery.

My OB/GYN has predicted that my surgery will last 2 1/2 hours.
This is for removal of fibroids, uterus, ovaries and cervix.

My surgery took 3 and a half hours. I had everything removed plus some "cleaning" to be sure there were no cancerous cells anywhere. They also took some nodes.
