Mini period?

I am 3 weeks tomorrow and am having a period! I didn't have my ovaries or cervix removed and my doctor told me that I will have "mini periods". I guess I just wasn't quite ready yet --- not sure how to classify a mini period. I started spotting a bit on Sunday and the last two days have been pretty regular --- nothing real heavy and no bright red blood. This timing is actually right about the time that I would have a period -- hopefully that is all it is. Anyone else out there with the "mini period" experience????

Mini period?

wineluvr72

Although the timing fits in with your cycle, at 3 weeks post-op it's probably too early to say that it's definitely a mini-period. A certain amount of bleeding during recovery is normal anyway and it could just be that.

I kept my ovaries and cervix, and was told to expect cyclical bleeding (mini-periods) as my cervix wasn't cauterised. I was also told to expect it at around 10-12 weeks and, sure enough, it turned up! Obviously, however, everyone is different.

For me, it's just the tiniest amount of spotting that doesn't even require a liner anymore. I also like to use it as a gauge that my ovaries are still working!

The best thing you can do is wait and see what happens next month ~ if it happens again, then I think you can be more confident in your assumption.

Sending all good wishes as you continue to heal!

Mini period?

i agree, its probably way too early to even think that its a mini period. i had an lsh also and bled quite heavy about a month after. i havent bled since and its been almost two years. mini periods arent real common..chances are you are just bleeding from your surgery. did your dr cauterize your cervix to lessen the chances of you having them?

Mini period?

I had a mini period 2-3 weeks after my surgery - around the usual time it was due. Just a little bit of spotting for 2-3 days. When it was that time of the month again I got more spotting than the first time and it lasted for 4 days. My doctor says that can happen even though it's rare and it might go away after a few months (I can only hope). I've heard some doctors will cauterize the cervix to hopefully stop mini periods. If mine keeps up I might be asking my doctor if he will do this. I was really down when I had this second mini period. After major surgery and recovery and the doctor assuring me I wouldn't get a period anymore I was upset. We'll see what happens next time.
