2 days post hysterectomy - soft diet meal that is diabetic friendly?

Hi, arrived home from Atlanta (I live south of Atlanta ). So far so good,. Surgeon advised me not to car ride back home
Until today, so husband and i booked a one night stay about 4 miles from the hospital. Several cars were broken into at the hotel, so it made things a little stressful. Luckily our car was skipped. I was able to poop after eating granny Smith apples, prune juice and fiber one bars. Now, I'm hungry again, trying to figure out a soft diet meal that is diabetic friendly...any suggestions?

Re: Home from the hospital

Welcome home!

I don't know much about diabetic meals - but I do know that I didn't feel like eating actual meals the first few days. I'd have some cheese, hard boiled eggs, cut up fresh veggies and fresh fruits, hummus and I drank and drank and drank water, which I completely recommend, to help flush the anesthesia from your system.

Rest and heal well!

Hi,
Thanks, this helps. About the anesthesia. I was under Versed (first) and Propofol. I was profusely nauseated to the point of squirming in the bed. I could not vomit, so the whole day immediately after surgery was horrible. They gave Ativan that night and finally things calmed down. Right now I'm sore with a little gas pain.
I'm a substitute teacher and part-time evening transcriptionist and wonder when I should go back to work.

Thanks again.

After my surgery, my stomach was pretty messed up, from the after-effects of the anaesthesia, and from the pain medications, so I didn't feel like eating much of anything. One of my "meals" was a green smoothie with cherries, protein powder and ground flaxseeds. Blending things into a smoothie can provide you with much-needed nutrients, while being easier on your stomach. The greens can help to detoxify your body, the cherries are relatively low in sugar; combined with the ground flaxseeds, they can help to get your bowels moving, which should also help your stomach. What I used for a protein powder during this time was Vega ONE powder, available at most health food or grocery stores, which contains many essential nutrients, as well as protein and healthy fats, to help stabilize your blood sugar. Also try blending in some almond butter for an added boost. Best wishes for your continued recovery!
