UGGHHH Incisional Hernia.. tired, hurting and scared
Hi Ladies,
Haven't been on here for awhile, but needed some support. I had a TAH ( appendix also removed, as was covered with endo) 6/26/07. Before I left the Hospital I noticed that I had a huge bump the size of a baby watermelon on my right side but figured it was swelly belly. I think I posted that I had a CT Scan early August and discovered it was an incisional hernia. I have now been mostly "couch bound" in so much pain for the past two months. Insurance won't cover the repair until Sept 1. I looked up some previous posts on incisional hernias and was a bit boosted, but the two surgeon's I've seen so far (seeing a 3rd on Thursday) say they don't want to put a drain in for fear of infection and that the "hernia pouch" will fill will fluid that "usually" re-absorbs into your systems within a few months (but some times does not), so I could be left with this huge deformity forever. I've been on prescription pain meds for 2 months now and am terrified it will be hard to get off of them (I've been in recovery for years, and pain meds where my problem. I've made it through years of painful back problems, and some really extensive (and painful) dental work without ever taking pain meds (except over the counter). I have a sweetheart of a Dr who has been incredible about helping me manage the meds a few days at a time, and I've strictly followed his directions. I'm very active in recovery and have walked through much before (also I apologize, as I know this might not be the right forum to add this to the mix, but it's part of what I'm feeling right now, and being honest is important to me) I'm not sure what is adjusting to HRT (the patch), what is exhaustion, but I just feel so overwhelmed at times (and honestly, somehow like a failure). I know that's irrational, as I didn't ask for any of this and am doing the best I can. I also have faith that this will all get fixed, but I am so very worn down right now. Just needed to vent. It feels today like this will never pass (or that it will pass and I'll be left looking 6 months pregnant on the right side for the rest of my life). Thanks ladies, just getting on here makes me feel less alone.

I am sorry you have had such a hard time, and have had so much to deal with. Your doctors sound like they are on top of the situation, and that it will all take some time to get you well .
You will be in my thoughts and prayers for healing and strength.
Hang in there
