going back to work at 2 weeks

I had to come in today for 4 hours so that my boss could take his wife to the dentist, and while he is out I have had another board member come in get on to me for being here, I told him what the deal was, and told him i would come in on friday afternoon to close books. I should of went to the board to begin with and probably could of saved some of the hassel and guilt trip that I keep getting from the boss. The board has been so supportive and that is a big relief because I didnt want them to think I was taking advantage of this situation. I realize that even when you think you feel good that can change in a instance. thanks for the support and I wish everyone the best.

hi poppie,

your post couldn't have been at a better time. it really made me think about my returning to work at 2 wks.

i really had to take alook at what i would be doing right away. not only paperwork and reports, but taking calls, making calls, e-mailing and meeting w/ particpants, employers and schools.

god, my judgement is so impaired!!!!

it just didn't dawn on me that i would be doing all this, right away. and a few comments i read, would have everyone thinking that i could hit the ground running right away, even if half time. yikes!

i do feel really good and know from dr. appt today that my healing is coming along. and driving today after i took a nap is a good indication that i am not ready. thank you, thank you for making me THINK. big big maria

going back to work at 2 weeks

I had to jump in here with my experiences, which I hope will help some of you needing to make work decisions. I'm at 5 weeks today. At weeks 2 1/2 I thought I felt good, and tried working (desk only) - made it 1 1/2 hours....at weeks 3 1/2 I tried again and made it 3 hours. This week I thought I could return full time...made it my full day of 9 hours on Monday....then crashed on Tues! Couldn't even get out the door. Rested/slept most of day-back at work today, but feeling exhausted already after about 2 1/2 hours...
Don't go back any sooner than you must! I feel GREAT until I try to get back to my 'normal' routines...then I'm just crashing down!

back to work

I have posted on this before, but I agree.

Don't go back to work until you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO.

I went back to work after 9 weeks. I felt pretty good at work, was tired in the afternoons because I was used to taking a nap.
(I'm a secretary)

I rested every night that first week and really took it easy when I got off work.

The second week went lots better.

Now I'm almost 13 weeks out and I feel really good. I'm glad I waited. Even at 7 weeks I didn't realize how tired I still was. I was trying to do some things in our Easter program at church and that just about wore me out.

Take it easy, rest, relax, heal.... WORK WILL STILL BE THERE AND THEN WHEN YOU GO BACK YOU WILL FEEL GOOD AND HAVE A GOOD ATTITUDE!
