Pre-op cleaning and organising??
I did the same before my TAH. I made sure the house was clean. We went grocery shopping for easy to prepare meals since BF was going to the preparing. I washed all my bedding and throws and got my bedroom ready so I would be comfortable. I knew I would be spending a lot of time in there.
You aren't crazy. Been there done that. Good luck to you and remember to rest rest rest when you get home.
Hugs to you!

Pre-op cleaning and organising??
dear cherryblossom67,
Get it all done now, cuz after that surgery you can't to a **** thing. You'll have to be totally waited on. I'm a person who doesn't like to sit around...I'm always doing or cleaning something. This TAH that I had is killing me. All you can do is sit around, lay around and walk around. Even when you start feeling a little better, it's best not to do anything, for fear you might rip something open.

Pre-op cleaning and organising??
Yes , I shall enjoy working my self silly. Did the inside and outside of the van today and made more food for the freezer. Today was pre-op with Doc and tomorrow is pre-admit at hosp....I am a going concern here on a good day so this being waited on will not be fun. Thanks for the words of wisdom all. I wish next Tuesday would hurry up. The anticipation and the not knowing is killing me. Get it over with already!! Take care.

Pre-op cleaning and organising??
Oh yeah, cherryblossom67...your thinking the same way I was...just get it over with. The anticipation is the worst. My TAH was June 28, 2007. Almost to my second week and just starting to feel somewhat just OK. Such a long recovery for someone who doesn't like to sit still. Let me know how you make out after your surgery.

Pre-op cleaning and organising??
cherryblossom....I chuckled at your post. I cleaned and organized for the entire duration of my pre surgery, from October when I decided till May when I had it! The weekend before my surgery, DH asked me if I realized I was having surgery and not a baby! It did help me to keep my mind occupied though!

Pre-op cleaning and organising??
I can so relate with you here. I too "nested" and cleaned and organized everything before my surgery.... Don't know why. I think it kept my mind busy and helped me not focus on the worry part of it. But it also helped me to know I would not have to get anyone to do major cleaning for me while I was recovering..... Now I feel silly to have worried because it was all for nothing, but hey, I got a really clean house now! LOL

Pre-op cleaning and organising??
I've got that same cleaning frenzy as well as trying to finish everything up from work (an impossible task). I do have the children doing most of the cleaning (13 and 15). They are going to be my daytime nurses. My husband isn't a neat freak but will leave things clean if he finds them that way. So hopefully, my house will stay in some shape.
To try to keep focused (I don't think my lack of focus is a function of surgery - but maybe during this period, I can blame it on that), I have a master Excel spreadsheet with all of the tasks I am supposed to be doing - with a sequence (yes I am quite anal - but it's the only way I can get the stuff done)!
Your surgery is the same day as mine. I'll be thinking and praying for you!

My cleaning compulsions at the moment? Baseboards and chair rails. Not sure why. And I haven't been cooking per se, but I've baked enough bread for the freezer to feed my street. Seriously, why bread??

because BREAD can be toasted and made quickly into a comforting yummy sweet or savory treat...
it is smart!

believe it or not that is the part that worries me the most...sitting still. I have 3 boys and a husband..(so 4 boys) and i am constantly on the go unless my endo and adhesions decide otherwise...i don't like TV....it gets boring after about an hour....i need to find a good read i guess .........
