Night sweats post hysterectomy

I'm trying to figure out what symptoms I'm experiencing are from my recent hysterectomy and what my be from the hormone treatment I had leading up to it. In a nutshell - unsuccessful endometrial ablation in February - MRI several weeks ago disclosed a 5 cm submucosal fibroid. Lupron injection 5/13 to try to shrink the fibroid, then ended up in the ER 6/2 with "brisk bleeding". They gave me premarin via IV, oral provera then put me on BC pills every 6 hours. Bleeding slowed until Saturday when it started up again. My doctor and I agreed it was time to take more proactive measures, and I had a TVH Sunday, June 5 (kept both ovaries). I'm doing great - out of the "castle" Monday morning and have been taking ibuprofen only the last several days. In fact, I even went back to work (a desk job) for four hours today. However, the last several nights, I have been miserable - waking up hotter than hot, and occasionally hot flashes during the day. I'm thinking this may be a lingering effect of the Lupron and other hormone treatment, but am wondering if I should start looking for ways (non- HRT preferred) to deal with this as a permanent, post op condition???? Thanks everyone - reading this board every day has made such a positive impact on my recovery!!!

Night sweats post hysterectomy

I had my TAH in January but I do remember having periods of sweating and hot flashes. I found it odd since I kept my ovaries too and called the dr. They indicated that it was just my body's way of getting things regulated and would end in the near future. I am glad to report that they did go away and I havent had one since about 3 weeks post op.

After surgery...your ovaries go to 'sleep' for awhile. Hence the hot flashes.[Just like menopause]

Once they 'wake up' and start producing estrogen again you should be fine.

Night sweats post hysterectomy

Hi.
For the first two weeks or so after my hysterectomy, I had night sweats (kept ovaries).

I agree with jayhawk9 in that they do eventually subside and it is your ovaries reacting to the surgery.

Best wishes.

I had the same thing happen. Dr. said the surgery and stuff they give you and the shock of surg. can also be a culprit. Mine are coming back online little by little.I will be 4weeks tomorrow. Wow you went back to work? I am still having complications and still on pain meds from time to time. Be careful and rest alot. I get very tired still too. I was nervous about adhesions.
