EMERGENCY APPENDECTOMY 5wks post hysterectomy

Hi Sisters,

Here I sit with the laptop on my swelly belly AGAIN. Just had my third surgery in less than a year. It seems that my appendix has been flaring for about a year now and wasn't diagnosed because it didn't fit the classic presentation. It even flared when I was in Cairo, Egypt, last month. Yikes!! Glad I didn't know it was my appendix, I thought it was food poisoning. And to think I asked my gyn to remove my appendix during my hyster and he said 'No.' He is going to hear about this.

I am very curious to know how common it is to need an appendectomy shortly after a hyster.

Mandaherz my heart goes out to you. Hang in there, things will get better. It's tough with kids at home. We should start a new post-appy thread! At least I had time to recover between surgeries. You take good care of yourself.

All of you ladies are so beautiful and strong! I realized when I read your stories that I felt such compassion for each of you but have not been that way toward myself, if you know what I mean. It's a reminder to me not to be so hard on myself for not being the wife and mom I'd like to be... To extend the same caring and grace to myself that I feel toward all of you dear Hsisters! May God comfort all of you and give you His strength and healing. Thank you for taking the time to reach out in the midst of your own struggles!

I agree with being easier on ourselves and for sharing. This website has been such a blessing and help. I would hate to think what I would be struggling with had I not found it.

I was wondering what symptoms you ladies had. I have been in pain since week 6. I know part of it is the cyst, but my back has been killing me the last few days. I also have a super sharp pain right by my right hip bone .

I'm so sorry you had to have back-to-back surgeries. It's definitely not easy mentally or physically. I'm scheduled for my 3rd surgery in 13 months. I signed the consent papers today and left the doctor's office feeling miserable and depressed just thinking about doing this again. At least I've had 6 months between each surgery to gain some strength back. I've done this so many times now, my 7-year-old doesn't even grasp the severity of surgery. For him, it's just something Mommy does every 6 months like getting her teeth cleaned at the dentist.

I had two surgeries also. My first hyster in Nov and then in Feb a huge open abdominal surgery to remove two abdominal abscesses, my tubes, ovaries appendix and do bowel repairs. Ugh. It WAS tough. But here I am 14 weeks out from surgery number two and doing great!!! Please all ladies reading knock on wood for me as that was one of many complications from my first surgery and I'm still afraid of saying I'm doing great - LOL!!!! I don't want to jinx myself.

I just so empathize with what you are going through. Luckily time does heal and hopefully before you know it this will be behind you.
