Re: Low Blood Pressure Question

keeping in mind I am definately not a doctor...Maybe its from the anesthesia (which can cause your BP to drop). My BP after surgery dropped to 80/30 (YIKES, I know)...but was stablized. I don't know how low it stayed after I got out of the hospital because I didn't have it checked until a week later and it was back to normal by then.

Re: Low Blood Pressure Question

I think lilangel that you are taking your own good advice and that is contacting your doctor. Are you on any medications? I would advise that you call them first thing in the morning, before they leave for holiday leave. Like luvmycop I had low readings in the hospital and didn't check once I got home, because I was stable. But, being dizzy and light headed is no good, so definitely call first thing in morning!

Re: Low Blood Pressure Question

I don't know if pain meds are playing a part in it. You are keeping in touch with your doc. on this, right? I just assumed so. Be careful in doing things like taking showers, etc., especially hot ones.

Take care and keep us updated,

Re: Low Blood Pressure Question

I haven't been in that much pain so i haven't taking any pain meds. The only thing that i have on right now it the hormone patch. Which is estrogen patch weekly so i keep it on until today then i will take a shower and change the patch. Could the hormone patch be the thing causing my blood pressure to be low?

Re: Low Blood Pressure Question

I had low blood pressure after surgery. And the highest it ever got before leaving the hospital was 101/53. When I want to my first checkup yesterday it was 119/64. My doc. said it was from the anesthesia and pain meds.

Re: Low Blood Pressure Question

Okay thank you. What kind of pain meds did they give you? Do you think the Demrol could do that? The pain med that my doc put me on was Demrol.

Re: Low Blood Pressure Question

lilangel,

When I came out of surgery my blood pressure was only in the 70's/30's, so they wouldn't give me anything for pain (I was pathetic, crying, begging puking). It wasn't until my blood pressure came up to the 90's/40's that they finally gave me Dilaudid in a pain pump. Since I've been home, I've only been taking Darvocet and 800 mg Motrin.
