Re: Phantom cramps

Yes. I can totally relate. I have had mine for 2 days . I am 6 weeks post op. I go for my check up tomorrow. I am going to ask about it. So far, ibuprofen has helped me.

Re: Phantom cramps

I dreamed about having my period last night and could've sworn I had what felt like cramps when I woke up. I checked the calendar and yep... just about the time I would normally have my period... weird feeling. I had to tell myself that I didn't have the uterine muscles that produced the cramps.... BUT like your dr said, we are all still healing and although i didn't have uterine cramps I still had some hormonal stuff going on in there.

Hope this helps. You're not alone. :-)

Re: Phantom cramps

My doctor said the phantom pains where the ovaries and uterus used to be may be felt for up to a year post op. I was relieved because I can definitely feel where they used to be and get shart pains sometimes and other times just an achy feeling. All part of the healing process I guess.

Re: Phantom cramps

I'm having those too! This is probably the time when my period would start, and I'm having cramps and bowel issues, just like before. I don't have ovaries either, so my doc says it couldn't be PMS. I'm glad to know others are feeling this way.

Re: Phantom cramps

I can see where this would happen - I wonder why that doc said, "There's no such thing". You hear of this all the time when amputees lose a body part...we have lost a significant "part" of our bodies. I wouldn't be surprised to experience this the next time I would be due for a period.

Re: Phantom cramps

I totally believe you can have phantom pains, especially if your still have your ovaries....or even if you dont.

My dr said the same thing, it can last for about a year as our brains have to reprogram themselves. But yes it does feel weird. My surgery was in April and I still have the phantom pains.

Re: Phantom cramps

Me too. I thought maybe it was just healing issues. But yeah, it definitely feels like cramps.
