Recovery Time From Laparoscopy

I had my LAVH in August and now I have to have a laparoscopy to remove scar tissue and possibly an ovary. Have any of you had this procedure? My doc says it's out patient and I should be back to work in 3 days. Does that sound about right?

Recovery Time From Laparoscopy

I had my hyst last year laproscopically but I kept my ovaries and cervix. I was only out for a month after all of that. I've even had my appendix and gallbladder out the same way. 3 days does sound about right if they are only taking out scar tissue and an ovary. Each person heals differently so definately listen to your body. I was in and out of the hospital the same day for the gallbladder and appendix. I only had to stay overnight for my hyst due to low blood pressure.

Best wishes to you. I'm sure everything will go just fine.

Recovery Time From Laparoscopy

I had an laparoscopy/d&c to diagnose endometriosis and remove some of it 2 years ago. I was in and out of the hospital in just a few hours and felt pretty good once I got home. However, about a week later I started to feel sore. I probably did too much right away since I wasn't feeling too bad. But a few days later I was pretty much back to normal. So I would say, take it easy the first few days even if you feel okay.

Take care!

Recovery Time From Laparoscopy

I just had a lap and tubal and removed an ovarian cyst. I recoverd pretty fast. Surgery was on a Friday and took it really easy over the weekend. I had a lot of pain on Saturday, but by Monday I was okay.

I had another lap in '95 and I was really bad off for about 5 days. You can never tell, I guess.

You still have the effects from anesthesia and all..so give yourself time to feel better. If your job is low key you will be fine but don't do any lifting for the full time that they tell you..adhesions and scar tissue can still happen.

Recovery Time From Laparoscopy

I had Lap surgery to remove scar tissue in Oct. My surgery was on a Wed and scheduled back to work on the following Monday. Not sure if I could of gone back at 3 days. Since my surgery was on a Wed I had the extra days from the weekend to recover. I had other issues that I was dealing with and ended up taking off 2 1/2 weeks. The surgery its self was a piece of cake. Home within a hour of waking up. I didn't have a ovary removed though. Just a cyst drained along with the removal of alot of scar tissue.

Recovery Time From Laparoscopy

Hi,

I was home for ten days and felt fine by then. I'm on my feet a lot and since I'm a teacher I wanted to make sure I was fully healed. I think three days is pushing it a little bit. I think more like a week, unless you have a very sedentary job.

I am glad that the others have been saying to give it a bit longer, cause I got to thinking that unless you time it mid-week like peipaws you probably won't be able to guarentee feeling good enough to go to work after three days. A week would be great if you can swing it!

I had my right ovary removed along with a cyst and also removal of adhesions. I took off between 2-3 weeks as I was very sore for a while. A recovery period of 3 days sounds about right for a diagnostic lap (I had that many years ago and it was a breeze), however, if you have an ovary and cyst out this makes a big difference-IMHO. Best of luck to you!

I think it depends a lot on your age and what kind of shape you are in. Don't let someone talk you into rushing back to work if you don't feel up to it. I had a quick recovery after my first lap 17 yrs ago but after the one I had done last spring it took much longer to recover. I am much heavier now than I was then and not even near the shape I was then. It made a real difference.
