Back to "work!" (child mentioned)

I'm two weeks from the six month surgical "anniversary" and I feel great!

On Monday I started my on-site practicum (Culminating Experience) in consumer health librarianship at an area hospital. I am working with a 2000 graduate from the same school. My schedule is four days per week, six hours per day or whatever I can get in before/after my previously scheduled doctors' appointments.

I haven't posted here for months, so I'll give a little update...
- Post-hysterectomy pain is rare and minimal if I feel it at all, and my blood counts have returned to normal. No more anemia!
- I changed my psych meds and I am more alert and less irritable since then. One of the meds - meant to counteract the side effects of the new stabilizer med - has allowed me to stop taking my medication for OAB. I think we've hit a flock of birds with one stone!
- I did really well in the fall semester, got an A in both classes, and my GPA has now hit 3.9. Yeehaw!
- I went to visit my sister's family along with my parents. My reactions to the baby's crying confirms what I already knew: I have no desire for children and probably don't have the patience to deal with them, either. The squeals and screams go right through me. Nevertheless, I enjoyed singing, playing and reading books with "Z."
- The only problems I'm dealing with right now are pain management (not related to the hysterectomy) and some kidney issues. My left kidney has become scarred due to multiple UTIs and a few stones. It also appears that I might have a genetic disorder passed down from my father that affects both kidneys. The pain management will deal with the repeated attacks of "renal colic" which my docs now think are actually not related to my kidneys but could be intestinal or muscular pain.

Happy new year to all the sisters out there!
