Helpful Things Post Op Hysterectomy

I had a single site incision daVinci hysterectomy and here are some helpful things post op:

1) My friend gave me a large tupperware bowl that i carry my medications, water bottle, etc around so when i move from bed to couch or vice versa i can easily transport stuff.

2) Heating pad for your shoulders from the gas pain helps
a lot!

3) Feet swelling: I tried everything from walking, ice, heat and compression socks and nothing would make the swelling go down. Then I put my TENS unit on my feet and they deflated instantly. You can buy a tens unit at Walgreen's, they are next to the heating pads.

4) No one told me not to lay flat on a bed and I tried that the first night and thought all my ribs were broken. Turns out my ribs are not broken, it was from the gas. I walked as much as I could after that and it helped a lot. Sleep on the couch and not a bed, it's easier to get in and out of.

5) In addition to the Gas-X, try a few Tums. It helps with the gas pain in the shoulders and also helps you go to the bathroom.
