Depression 4 months out
It's been four months since a total hysterectomy. I had uterine prolapse and it was causing a lot of problems. Sex was still painful, so I went to the doctor last week. I have two infections and may have either scar tissue at the vaginal apex or a lesion. Both would require additional surgery. Frankly, I am depressed about the whole situation. My husband has run out of patience with the little sex we have been able to have and I'm quite depressed about his attitude. I understand, but was surprised to get the blame for not being more proactive in getting this solved. I've done everything by the book and have called several times and followed the dr's instructions before returning for a visit earlier this week. I'm taking HRT, but am depressed this week. Any thoughts?

Depression 4 months out
hello aftif16- I am so sorry that you are going thru this and am sending you warm s and healing vibes. of course you are depressed sweetie, you're going thru a rough time. i can only imagine how it feels to be doing all you should and be 4 months out and have more healing issues! I'm at 8 weeks and watching every lil thing--pain, swelling, fatigue and wondering if i'm doing too much.... i don't think there's anything else you could've done so don't let others get to you with their criticism. Know you are doing the best you can at this point, cry when you need to, vent here whenever and realize that it will get better--yeah, really it will!! As for that dh of yours anyone who has not gone thru this really doesn't understand. Your sisters here do---keep us posted.

Depression 4 months out
When the people who are close to us are unsupportive and blaming us for the very problems that are causing us pain... that is bound to cause depression... especially if we don't express how angry we are. Your hubby should be being more supportive. Clearly this is WORSE FOR YOU than for him. I'm not saying be enraged, but tell him you are angry. That you deserve his support. That you are tired and in pain and you need him to be understanding, not blaming. You will feel less depressed if you get your feelings off your chest. And maybe he will be able to respond well.
Good luck!

Depression 4 months out
Hi aftif16
I have to add my s here too. I'm so sorry you're still dealing with the infections and pain. I can understand the depression. You're being blamed for something you had no control over. He really does need to back off and get his mind off of himself here. I hope he was just having a bad day. Try to talk to him about it. You are going to need his support both physically and emotionally until this is over. If he were ill I know you would be there caring for him and supporting him as best you could. I know you want to be well just as badly as he wants you to be.
If this depression hangs on and is more than the reaction to this lack of support please talk to your dr about it and get some help.
I hope now that you are treating the infections you will start to feel better. Keep us posted on your progress.
