prolapse without childbirth?
I posted this question within a question in a reply to another post but realized that that may not be the best way to get an answer. Is it possible to have some sort of prolapse without ever giving birth? I'm 34 years old, had a tvh 6 wks ago. I have a drs appt Tuesday for what feels like a heaviness and full feeling in my vagina. I'm already all stressed out about it but I'm wondering now if it's even possible?

prolapse without childbirth?
Hi there,
Prolapse can happen after hysters since the uterus is no longer supporting the vagina.. the doctor has to attach it to other pelvic wall areas. Therefore there is some risk of prolapse after hysterectomy regardless of childbirth status.
That said, there is another thread going here about heaviness in vagina. It seems others have this sensation and it isn't always prolapse. I am only 6days post op TAH and I have that sensation when I am up and around. I think it relates to muscles and nerves.
Update us on what the dr. says, as it is helpful to see what others have found out!
Good luck,
CC

Prolapse without childbirth (Update)
Update - I visited my doc yesterday. I do not have a prolapse and, according to my doc, it is VERY unlikely for someone my age (34) who has never had children to have a prolapse. I do however have bacterial vaginosis which has caused the swelling, irritation and "full" feeling I have been experiencing. 10 days of 500 mg of Metronidazole 2x day and I should be set. Whew!!
