June 13th- anyone 1 week post op?

Tomorrow will be one week post-op for me. I am doing very well overall. Very tired today, took a couple of naps. I go tomorrow to get my staples removed, looking forward to that, as they are getting uncomfortable. Each morning, I have very bad abdominal pain after breakfast, as my bowels begin to get into motion. Lasts for 1-2 hours. Need to talk to the doctor about that. I've been trying to get by on just the ibuprofen, though do take a percoset when needed.

I am not bored at all! I am so happy not to have to go to work! I'm doing the things I always wished I had time for... sitting on the porch watching the bird feeder with my binoculars, playing my violin, reading a book, taking a nap, taking a slow walk to the end of the block, talking with friends, etc. I am reading The DeVinci Code. No television for me, I can't stand the sound of it! With the garbage that they air, it is a complete waste of time.

June 13th- anyone 1 week post op?

Had my surgery June 8th and was home the following afternoon. (TVH)
I was feeling pretty good, Sat. went to Walmart with mother for about 45 min. paid for it on Sunday, was just totally wiped out. I am taking Ibuprofen 800 and Vicodin as needed, trying to stay away from the Vicodin because it tends to constipate, and don't need that. I walk frequently and drink alot of water, but am just exhausted and DH just doesn't understand. I am home alone with two young children so can't nap like I would like to, but the weekend will be here in a few days and I think I am going to lock myself in my bedroom with my Sex in the City collection and rest only coming out to go to the bathroom and eat something. LOL!

Dr. said 6 wks :Today I went to pool supply got a float that I will not get stitches wet, put on a long pad and duct tape and tried this out. Spend one hour in the pool , took off duct tape and pad was dry so the stitches did ot get wet. Came home went to bed until dd had dinner ready. Think I'm a new person.
Take my pain meds as directed.

Wow! It is so interesting to see what the differences in DR's that let you do things. I'm from Canada--Ontario. We have a 3-4 day stay at the hospital. I was ready on the 3rd to leave. I'm not suppose to drive for 2 weeks. I'm sure that there are other differneces but that is one that is obvious. Someone mentioned not being able to pass any gas. Well...I think the last bm I had was probably a couple of days before sugery. No gas passed until I had been home 2 days. I was dying. Gas pains hurt far more than incision pain. Drank lots of water, even prune juice, walked as much as I could. Despite taking laxatives and giving myself an anemia ( lots of fun ) I still didn't go. On the 5th day post op I finally went. I felt like a million bucks, hence doing too much around the house yesterday.
