Painful to eat, pee, poop, have gas?Is this normal?

I am so glad to have this place to go and see everyone's experiences. Every morning, my dh gets a good laugh (not in a mean way) as I holler out while having a bm. Everything's coming out ok, but it's so painful. It's been 9 days since my TAH, so I'm not worried... just can't wait for it to be over. I was freaking out over my swelly belly, too, but I am so encouraged through all the support of you ladies who have gone before me! Knowing this, too, will pass.

Painful to eat, pee, poop, have gas?Is this normal?

When I go back to work, there are a couple women who are "jealous" that I got to have "the whole summer off".

If one of them starts in on me, I am just going to launch into a verbatim recitation of this thread.
One of the women has had 2 c-sections and the other one has had a hysterectomy.
I cannot understand how they think I am on a vacation.

Well, I know I need to ignore them and focus on the people who act nice. It's not like everyone is catty. Thank goodness.

Yes, I had pain when I ate (I still need to eat small meals to avoid it) and I had pain passing gas and I could feel movements through my bowels.
It is so much better now- I am one month out. I used GasX and I took some herbal stuff that has the digertion enzymes in it.
I still take one spoon of Milk of MAgnesia at night, along with a Colace.
Drinking tons of water, eating lots of fiber and walking a LOT has helped.

wow I just read what you said and my office seems to feel that way about me too. Then when I couldn't come back because I broke my foot they treated me like they were washing their hands of me. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one. Also, I'll be looking for a new job when I'm fully recovered because my boss sold his practice. I'm feeling better but my foot is still so sore. Between my hysterectomy and my broken foot I have very little energy. My podiatrist suggested that we who have a hysterectomy should increase our protein by 25%. Can you believe it was from my podiatrist, not my gynecologist? Anyway, hang in there, all of us know there was no vacation in our recoveries.

You are right, this site has brought me much comfort. I wish that some doctors would come on too just to suggest some things we might want to ask our doctor or what we are experiencing is normal. Such as, our sleepless nights, why don't they act as if this is normal. I've read so many hyster sisters with the same issue. Why do our doctors not say this is a common side effect when we bring it to their attention. I hope you recover soon and well. God Bless you on your way

dear jacksgramma, I would like for the docs to come on here not to say things to us but to learn from us.

Like the docs who cut one woman off from meds after one week and suggested she take TWO TYLENOL! The subbing doc who didnt bother introducing himself before doing an internal. There are countless more stories on these threads.

I just thought of a new line! when someone says (as they invariably will) something about they wish they had all that time off i think i shall smile sweetly and reply, "I will say a prayer for you then. Is there a particular organ you were looking to get rid of?"
