TAH Full abdominal incision Post-op ladies - stairs question

I haven't had to take stairs at all, and if they are an option I take the elevator. My nurse told me that I am not to go up and down stairs for six weeks. I am not going to do anything else to cause pain. I was out today, just going to an appointment and had pain from walking slowly. Glad my university has elevators in every building.
Don't do anything that is going to make your healing time any longer than it has to be. I need to remember that myself sometimes.

I don't have any stairs at home. When I've been out I've taken the stairs I haven't noticed anything but that's just one up and down.

I'm an avid hiker though and I live in the foothills of the mountains. It's hard to walk anywhere without it being a hill. I have been walking a bit more each day but I find I need to keep to flat as much as possible. I've also noticed that uneven terrain quickly bothers me. I can't wait until I can actually hike again

im just 2 weeks today and had to brve the stairs at school because the elevator was down and while it does make me breathe harder it doesnt hurt so thats me

I live in an apartment on the second floor...stairs were necessary for me to get out and walk ...my doc advised to just take them slow...hold the hand rail and stop and rest if I had any problems. It hasn;t been a real bad problem although I am still taking them very slowly I can manage them several times a day now.
