I had rectocele repair done 3 weeks ago.Today when I was trying to have a bm(sorry tmi). When I was pushing. Not straining. At least I didn't think I was.I had pain.I never had that before. It is still hurting alittle bit.Do you think my repair failed?I am really nervous when I have to go have another one.Is this normal to have pain where the repair was while having a bm?I am not having any bleeding so I am hoping that a good sign. Thanks

This is a change for you. Surgeons like to hear about changes, especially if pain is involved. I know that, at first....after my surgery.....I was afraid to "bother" my doc. But, mine made it crystal clear that he likes to know what is going on. Yours should, too.

How are those clots in your left arm coming along? I've been thinking about you, and praying for resolution.

Take care, Princess.................s........Deb

I had a rectocele repair about 5 months ago and to me it was worse pain than my TVH.{Again that is just me} It hurt for several weeks after my surgery and every time I had a bm there was severe pain and I thought I had messed something up. I would call your Doc. just to let him know but I hope everything is OK. I wish you a very speedy recovery.

My rectocele repair was 6 weeks ago today (along with the SAH and bladder repair) and it still hurts sometimes when I poop. sunday I actually had bright red blood dripping when I went. I see my dr today so if he tells me anything that I can pass on, I will. Hugs Raymo

Just a week ago I had a LAVH and an extensive rectocele repair. I've always had many problems after surgeries with constipation and sometimes found that to be more uncomfortable to deal with than the actual surgery.
Knowing that going into this surgery, and especially the rectocele repair, I prepared myself with a high fiber diet, lots of liquids, and my doctor instructed me to take a stool softener. This has worked very well for me, (knock-on-wood) with no pain at all with a bm.
You might want to talk to your doctor about at least taking a stool softener to see if that eases with the pain, but definitely consult your doc first.
Believe me, I know how much anxiety this can cause as I had been through it many times in the past. But, I can assure you, in my case, the above preparation has really worked.
Good luck.

Thanks everybody.I hope everything will be fine.Still hurts some tonight.Going to see how I feel tomorrow and if it is still hurting I will call dr.
Ramyo-please let me know how you dr appt goes.I haven't had any blood yet,So I don't think I actually tore anything.
Abby-I know what you mean about it being painful.Hope I never have to have it done again.
Fibrowomen-My blood clots are getting better everyday. The pain and the swelling got really bad.I think my arm ended up infected. The dr put me on another medicine to clean up any infection. That really helped.Still don't want anybody touching my arm. Thanks for asking...

Thanks for caring everyone.I really appreicate it....

Hi tread!
Whereas I agree with the others that you should mention it to the doctor, I also had occasional pain at times, like a painful ache or bad muscle spasm all the way up the rectum, or so it felt anyway.
And this is me who is very fortunate not to suffer from constipation.
A tip on BMs... relax the muscles, don't push them, and put your feet up on a little stool so that your knees are higher than your bottom.
What topics we cover on here eh? Lol.

I had my second A & P repair 10 days ago. I am still having BM issues. First BM was like giving birth, now have diarrhea 4-5 times a day and still having pain with it. I was told to continue to take the Colace because the Drs are afraid if I don't I'll become constipated. I've seen the Dr 3 times since discharge and repair is still intact. But oh the pain in my bum!!!
Make sure you don't strain, keep your BM's loose and take care of yourself. Hopefully we'll both be good as new soon!!

This all really concerns me - omg! I am 3 weeks today from original surgery (TAH/A&P/RECTOCELE)I have had a riough go fo it (atleast more than I expected) I had second surgery 4/22 for vaginal hemmorage and have been extremely constipated - lots of pain in rectal area - just the last few days seem to be better going but such a small amount! Can I ask why you had to have a 2nd A&P? Good luck with all.

Mind you, diarrhea can cause painful BMs too.
