Allergy testing?

I feel all I'm doing is asking questions, but I just got a call from my GYN and have an appointment with an allergist on Friday. I'm not disagreeing with this appointment, I've been thinking of getting my allergies retested, but I'm wondering if it's normal to have this type of testing done before surgery?

They wanted to see if my latex allegy had gotten any worse. Thankfully it hadn't, but I'm now not allowed to eat bananas. LOL

It should actually help me get an earlier date because I won't have to be first in theater and the room doesn't have to be scrubbed down, they just can't have any latex touching me.

A latex allergy is important to know about before surgery. I'm glad to hear it hasn't gotten any worse. Not allowed to eat bananas...ouch! I love bananas.
