How long before I can drive?

With 5 kids to carpool around I was just curious how long of recovery time is needed before we can get behind the wheel.
Plus of course the Christmas shopping thought ran through my mind, I do have chauffers lined up for that work too!

How long before I can drive?

Hi,

Usually there is a two-week driving restriction, but you'd need to check with your own doctor, just to be sure.

The rule of thumb is that you can drive when you're off of all narcotic pain meds, can turn your body at a 90 degree angle to look behind you, and can stomp on the brake hard without pain.

I was cleared to drive at 2 weeks, but wasn't comfortable doing so until around 4 weeks.

As for Christmas shopping, online shopping might be a better way to go this year.

s,

Lisa

How long before I can drive?

i was cleared to drive at i week as long as i wasn't taking any pain med. i had a SAH. i waited for any extra day only because i had my car in the shop i figured they might as well get the work done because i wouldn't be needing my car. but driving kids around can be a big headach in itself. you should probably wait longer than that before you become a chauffer.
good luck to you

How long before I can drive?

I was cleared to drive at 3 weeks, but didn't start til 4 weeks. I still found it slightly uncomfortable, as it was painful to twist to look over my shoulder. Getting in and out of the car was difficult for a while, too. I was happy to let someone else drive for about 6 weeks, just because there was so much "work" involved and it was stressful...I was always worried someone would run into me and I'd end up hurting my tummy
