I'm having bleeding problems too!

I just finished reading all the threads here. I too am having bleeding. Need thin pads but tooo much for liners. I was doing well with a little pink in hospital but that stopped before going home. (I have both overies & cervix, but I was due for my period right around the time they took my uterus.)
Then about a week after coming home I started light pink again-so I slowed down because I had been feeling better then I ever expected and thought maybe I did too much. At my 2 wk check up I mentioned the pink and she said to call if red. Well, that started that night. Very light, but by the next day it was getting more. I kept resting, but still had more the next day so went to ER (day after Thanksgiving) because of allergic reaction as well as bleeding. The ER dr. did an internal said it was something on the cerivix, but nothing to worry about-call dr on Mon if still bleeding.
That night I was passing tiny little pieces and even more bright period red bleeding. So I called the office. He told me that it could be that way for 3-6 wks post op ( I never heard that before-anyone else?!!) and to rest drinking lots of fluids. By Mon I was definitely showing signs of stopping and lightening, still called office to see if My dr. wanted to see me/ touch base she was still out. Nurse said it was a sign of over doing it. So I continued to rest-(mom's here won't let me doing anything but!!) Yesterday it went to brown and just about stopped, but this morning I woke up and there it was again purplish red and picking up again-and I RESTED yesterday!
I know there is a chance when you keep your cervix that you can get mini's, but I'm not due for my period for at least another week. I've had a little cramping and feel sorer than when I first came home-on the inside. Sometimes it stings inside too. Outside I'm totally healed. My husband went back to work the other day and my folks came to help drive the kids around, but soon I'll have to do it myself- worried.
Compared to what I was experiencing before the hyster. The bleeding is mild-but didn't think I'd have this much after surgery for this long too.
Watching it today to see if it gets more may possibly call office again. My first week's been better than the last 2!! Very discouraged!

I think that if you keep your cervix then you might be expected to bleed more than those of us who did not ...
but, if you feel it is "changing" - rather than being constant or slowing down - then you should call your doctor.

Good luck.

update on bleeding

I called the office to just talk with the nurse to see if this was normal. She wants me in first thing tomorrow to see my actual dr. and said I'll probably be chemically cauterized to stop bleeding. I'm not looking forward to it as I'm already raw and sore in the vaginal area and still struggling with some sort of allergic reaction to one of my meds/something causing itching and swelling in my hands and hives on and off on my arms/legs.
I'm not a happy camper right now-I'm very discouraged. I felt better the first week than I have these last 2!

Oh Lilac Sweetie, I am sorry to hear about the extra visit. I have heard the cauterization stings and then you may feel a little crampy -- but it will be over REALLY quickly and by the day after it will be a distant memory!! Best thing, in a couple days you won't be bleeding anymore (there may be a slight greyish discharge for a couple days).

Good luck Dear, let us know how it goes.

I had to have the cauterization as well. It wasn't too painful.

Bleeding 2 weeks post op

I just had to have the cauterization today. I had my tah/bso on June 13 and started bleeding again a couple of weeks ago. I have a small area on the vaginal cuff that was forming scar tissue and had to be cauterized. It was pretty quick, done right in the office. It was uncomfortable but not unbearable. My Dr says it can happen again so I may have to repeat the procedure. I'm hoping this is why sex is uncomfortable. It's been almost 6 months and I could care less if I have sex but the couple of times we've tried it was not pleasant.

Update on my bleeding situation

Yesterday I went back to the dr. she did an internal and sent me for a CAT scan. She wanted to make sure there were no large Hematomas that would need draining. The scan showed no large ones, but several small ones which is why just when I think the bleeding has stopped it starts again. She said that it was good that they were draining even though it's an inconveince to have to where a pad for several weeks.
She said that it might be a couple more weeks of bleeding, but as long as it doesn't get worse it was ok. Still need to let pain be guide and after 7 hrs up all day at hospital I know what she means !
The good news was that she didn't cauterize!!
I still have a cervix so my situation would be different from someone else who doesn't.
Bottom line when in doubt DON"T wait it out-call your doc.
A weight has lifted now knowing it's ok and I'm not glued to bed .
I will need another CAT scan in a couple of wks to recheck, but things are looking ok.
Hope this helps someone else!
