Kind of a silly question

But.......after everything is removed, where do all your other organs go now that there is all this extra space? Do they drop down, stay in place?

Kind of a silly question

I asked my gyn/onc this same question, and I believe that he said that it does not remain empty, but kind of fills up (spreads) by other organs. When I asked him, I started off by saying, "You know, nature hates a vacuum..." Why don't you ask your doctor, too?

Hi,

Okay, here we go with the spaghetti analogy again.

Imagine a big bowl of spaghetti with meatballs scattered all through the noodles. If you remove one of those meatballs, the spaghetti just fills in the space, there's no hole left. Well, that's how your innards are. If you remove your uterus, your other organs and intestines just fill in the space.

And that's not a silly question! You'd be surprised at how many ladies wonder that. I think the confusion comes in from looking at anatomical diagrams. They make it look like everything is just kind of hanging rigidly in its own space in there.

Best wishes and s,

Lisa

Kind of a silly question

Wow!!! I am so glad that someone asked this question and that there was a reasonable answer!...I was seriously considering stopping at CRAFTMART and buying a bag of POLYFILL to take with me to the hospital so they could stuff me back into shape before they closed me up....The thought of having a bunch of empty spaces with things being able to slosh around at will...just didn't seem appealing...On the other hand, my husband was hoping I would come home with a 22" waist!! HA HA HA HA
Love you all....I know I've said it before , but this is just the greatest site on the internet!
GOD BLESS

Kind of a silly question

I actually burst out laughing at your reply, Leah Ann! My dh is looking at me quite strangely (well, more strangely than usual!)
Thanks Sashi for the explanation!

Thanks often wondered the same thing!

Thanks Shashi for the spaghetti analogy, that helped to get a great visual. I have looked at diagrams of our anatomy and wondered how will everything fit back together. Will the other organs just slide down? Now I've got it, boy will that feel funny or what? Thanks again ladies.
Oh! Here's one question,"According to diagrams, the uterus and tubes, ovaries are all connected right?", so,"How do they seperate the uterus from the tubes and ovaries?"

I also worried that after surgery...I'd feel empty. Never happened. Feel great like I did when I was 20! Yaah Hoo!

Kind of a silly question

You know.. until I went to pelvicfloor.com last night.. I had NO idea that everything was connected ( I'm dumb, yes.. i know) I was used to seeing everything all nice and laid out like in the pictures in the books.. and assumed everything was just free to roam around as it pleased.. that's why they could never find my ovaries in an US... blew that theroy out the window... now I'm wondering where the heck they are if they're all attached and they still can't find them... go figure..

I'm hoping with out my utter and friends.. my fat will just fill in the cracks and i'll look thinner without having to diet... I'm wiling to bet I have no such luck huh.
