Help at home

Hi...I'm scheduled for an abdominal hysterectomy on 11/18. I'm a single mom of 2 teenagers, and am concerned that I won't have other adult help at home once I leave the hospital. I have friends and relatives close by -- will it be sufficient to have people check in on me from time to time, or is is likely I might need an adult to stay with me? I've had 2 C-sections, so I feel like I know what to expect in terms of how I will feel at home. Any thoughts?

I was able to take care of all my personal care needs, with the exception of my toenails, right away. I could cook and wash dishes in the sink, too. No lifting, sweeping or anything like that, though, and I still can't get myself more than a few blocks away from home on my own.

Put those teenagers to work doing all the chores (and shopping if you can) and you should be fine. You may want somebody to come by to help with the "prisoner in your own home" feeling you might get, maybe have somebody take you out somewhere.
