steri strips and pain killers -

Good morning sisters,

Three questions this morning.
I had my stapes out 9 days ago now, and the nurse put on steri strips, she gave me extra in case they fell off. I think mine must be on with super glue, coz they arent going anywhere. HOW long should I keep them on for?

Second question.
I am on Tylenol 3, and have meds down to twice a day. How long do you think I should stay on them? SHould I sway one of them to a Tylenol and just have T3 at bedtime?

Last question.
Before surgery, my iron count was low, and I had anemia. I have had no advice whether to now continue taking iron tablets. At surgery, both the Hem and Ferr had risen, but I dont know if I should keep taking them.

Asking doctors is SO hard... They do not let you ask over phone or email, and I cant drive yet! Not seeing GYN till the 19th

any advice from you wise ladies xoxoxo

Re: steri strips and pain killers -

Hi Hun I had my staples removed at 10 days and they were replaced with steri strips. I ended up taking them off 8 days later by hey just didn't want to come off by themselfs lol. I was told they would and nope they didn't. I took them off in the shower so they wouldn't pull as much.

Pain meds vary from person to person. I stopped mine at 7 days post op and took over the counter pain pills. Everyone's ability to hand pain is different. So I can not tell you to stop or not to stop Hun. That is up to you and your body's tolerance to pain. You will not be cleared to drive while still on pain meds. So make sure someone drives you to places you need to go.

For your iron pills you should really ask your doctor. They should if told you at time if discharge but sometimes things get over looked. I know iron made me constipated Please call and ask Hun. Happy healing.

Thanks Dawnsy

Think I will start removing them in the shower... some are hanging now and itchy!
I also think I will start using over the counter meds, the ones Im on are on script only, but I have had them before and I know I can drive with them, but theres no way yet I can do that... Still need my friends
Thanks sweetie xoxo

Re: steri strips and pain killers -

I am 6 days post-op TAH and had my staples out this morning. They put butterfly steri-strips on and said they would fall in the shower after a couple of weeks. As far as pain meds go, it is a very personal thing ad each persons pain level is different. I wouldn't try ti "tough" it out. I am pretty pain tolerant and am still taking mine, taking ducolax stool softener and eating plenty of fiber and I'm not constipated. I also have IBS ad well. Good luck with your choices and Happy Health!

Re: steri strips and pain killers -

Hi again,
Unfortuantely I took of the strips in shower, and the middle of wound has not closed at all. Spoke to Gyn's nurse and have to go in tomorrow to be looked at... grrrr so frustrating.... Have upped meds again, sore, but think some of it is in my head tonight! lol... Anyway, update again tomorrow... Glad I did it though, as there was no way it was going to heal like that, going to leave a bigger scar.. glad im not a bikini babe... Nice one piece for me Hope you are healing fast dpbjeb, xoxo
