Re: Pre-Op Symptoms- anyone else experiencing...

I'm so glad I'm not alone in feeling those symptoms! This site has been a true blessing for me as I haven't really talked to anyone about being nervous or anything. My hubby can tell since I tend to get nauseated and moddy a little more than usual lol He's super supportive so with him, my kids and you ladies, my ind is at ease! At least while I'm online reading everyone's posts I have 3.5 until my OP and am SO rady to get this done and over with so I can go back to my happy bubbly self again. I have a nice team of co-workers covering my work load while I'm out but I'm such a control freak that it's hard to let them handle it lol Wishing everyone the best of luck with their surgeries!!

Ok, I am not alone here. My surgery is on Aug. 22 wow about 4 weeks away. I cannot stop thinking about it. I love this sight I do not feel so alone as I have no one here at home to talk about it with that understands.

I feel the same way. I usually work out when I get anxious, but since I had a laparoscopic procedure a week and a half ago, walking is all I can do. I feel sorry for my family because all I do is talk about the upcoming surgery. I'm happy to hear I'm not alone!

Re: Pre-Op Symptoms- anyone else experiencing...

My surgery is Wednesday so I don't have long to fret. I am fretting more and more each day. I am distracted, short tempered and pre occupied about what going to happen to my body. I am a runner, a triathlete, and I lift weights twice a week. The thought of not being able to train is terrifying for me. I feel your pain and frustration.

Re: Pre-Op Symptoms- anyone else experiencing...

I was in a wonderful state of denial, which was helped along by being very busy with work.

But as soon as work slowed down and I "realized" surgery is a week and a half away, my anxiety, preoccupation, and general agitation increased. I wake up at night. I have weird dreams, too. As for exercise, I've ramped UP, too much. I have been working out so much that I've made my back, neck, and other parts sore. I skipped exercising every other day this past week, and when I did that, I had a little voice saying, "OH! How can you skip a day? Soon you won't be ABLE TO do this, so you'd better do as much as you can NOW!!" Yikes.

If I think about it nonstop, I start getting worried and anxious. So then I try to live "normally": I shop, make meals, do laundry, have lunch with a friend and shop a bit with her, clean the kitchen...but then I'll be unloading and dishwasher and think, "Hmmm...can I do all this bending after the hysterectomy," and then a cycle of anxiety starts up.

I had been talking about it nonstop but wore myself out (I guess); now I can get together with a friend and not mention it. A few weeks ago, no way: I HAD to talk about it.

I had also been doing a ton of online reading. I too watched a video: I laughed when someone here said she had and then put in parentheses "not smart"! Yup: that was my thought, too, after I watched it.

I calm myself by reminding myself how much I trust my doctor's competence. I also calm myself by sharing my worst fears with my hub and my best friend: both are excellent sources of support. And I come here often to read and post; I get a lot of comfort and information from this site. I remind myself that this is a common operation, and it's likely I'll sail through it smoothly (that one runs counter to the scary voice in my head: I borrowed it from responses to posts!).
