bladder and bowel movements

I am 10 days post op from a TAH. I have no problem
starting to urinate, but towards the end i feel pain as
if my badder is being squeezed or as if there is a kink somewhere. Has anyone experienced this. Is this normal Post Op stuff. I also still feel lots of pain when
my bowels are moving. When does this subside and get back to normal! Am i being impatient?

I had the same issue and talked to my doctor about it. He said that it was normal and that it would take about 3 weeks for the pressure to go away. I'm 4 weeks out now, and still feel some slight pressure when urinating, but not nearly as bad as the first 2 weeks. Bowel movements are also much easier. I guess it takes time. Hang in there.

bladder and bowel movements

I had my hysterectomy the same day as you Jan 29th. And I am experiencing the same thing. Urinating is painful toward the end. The pressure that builds to have a bowel movement is unbelievably painful, I just knew something was wrong. I called my doctor she said it will eventually get easier.

Sisters, be aware of UTI's as well. I had one one week after my surgery.

bladder and bowel movements

Hang in there! I experienced the same thing. I had my TVH on 1/24 and am just now starting to feel better. The thing that was the worst for me was trying to have a bowel movement. It hurt (sometimes felt like I was passing razors). I take Colace (stool softener) once a day to help keep things soft. Has helped. Be sure to drink lots of water and get up and move every so often. Each day is one day closer to being your old self. Take care!

Phew! I was starting to worry about that myself. I was feeling this the past 2-3 days now and thought something might be wrong. I'll mention it to my doc, anyway, to be sure.

Thanks!

bladder and bowel movements

I am now on my 6th week...it still feels crampy when I urinate. Bowel movements were also a problem - I lived on stool softner and I even went as far as using glycerin suppositories to move things along (who would have thought!?LOL). I had abdominal hyst and doc says that everything gets shoved around and it takes a while before the body functions normally. I still take Gas-X cause I get swelly and bloated constantly.

Please be on the watch for a bladder, or UTI. I ended-up in the ER with a bladder infection at 13 days post-op. It was the weekend, when it got really bad. I was back to walking bent over, and experiencing the worst bladder spasms.

Also, as a suggestion, have a glass of cranberry juice at day, to ward off any potential UTI's.
