TAH Surgery August 2nd...Any Pointers?

my surgery is also august 2, tah due to uterine cancer. i have also had two c-sections and was delighted to read these. i didn't think the c-sections were too terrible, so i am praying that this won't be too bad. i guess it really depends on the person having it. good luck to you. i know that we will all be praying for each other for complete success.

I had 2 c-sections and found that the surgery itself was about the same, but the recovery is far different. Be prepared to do nothing but personal care for the first week. That alone will wear you out. There is also bladder & bowel issues that you did not have with the c-sections. I found that those issues were worse than the surgery itself.Stay away from carbonated drinks for the first week, and stick to a soft easy to digest diet as well. I had a garden salad one week post-op & boy did it upset my apple cart!

Hi Lisa
Sounds like we're all different. I'm with Shelly on this one. Maybe its the SAH that makes it easier, along with no baby to mind. I had 2 c-sections, and found them far worse than this. And Bonny I did have awful gas and bowel problems after my c-sections. I was far better prepared this time, and made sure I had lots of fibre including fresh fruit and veg after my surgery. I had minimal gas pains, and no problems with my bowels.
Good luck

I had the opposite, I had no bowel or bladder issues after c-sections, I was also alot younger then too, I bounced back very fast after c-sections. From reading on hystersisters it sounds like the majority of women do have bowel issues after hyster, you sound like a lucky woman to have hardly any, I envy you.
