I would call your doctor...Don't wait for another week... You should not be leaking all the time... Something is not right... Are you sure it is urine and not a discharge? I was getting some clear liquid from the vaginal area at about 4-5 wks.. Please let us know

I'm so sorry you're experiencing problems during your recovery but, as I know you're already discovered, you've come to the very best place for information and support.

A hysterectomy is major surgery with the initial and vital healing taking approximately 6 weeks, with full recovery then taking anything from 3 months to a year. Everyone heals at different rates and the type of procedure makes a difference, too. The most important thing is to rest as much as possible and keep in close contact with your doctor if any problems you're having aren't improving.

Have you found our <link> Post-Op Page yet? It's absolutely packed with information, for all different stages of recovery.

I agree with ((PattieO)) in that you shouldn't wait another week before telling the doctor about your bladder problems. Please don't be scared to tell her ~ it's very important to ensure that any potential problem doesn't get any worse.

I can tell you that at your point in recovery, I was still having days where I felt pretty rotten. I was tired, sore, tired, sore..... Get the picture?

In fact, at my 6-week checkup, I was so proud that I had driven myself to the clinic (an hour from my home) -- and when I got there I was a few minutes early. So I laid my head down on the chair next to me "just for a minute" . You guessed it -- 45 minutes later, I woke with a start and looked at the clock in absolute horror. I had even drooled on the chair.

I was sure they had called my name and I had slept right through it, but the receptionist said, "Don't worry -- he had an emergency. I didn't want to wake you." I felt absolutely silly, until I looked around and everyone else in the waiting area was either asleep or looking seriously tired!

It takes several months to get your body back in it's pre-surgery condition -- up to a year, in fact. Be very gentle with yourself and ease back into your routine -- don't "jump" back in. You're a , after all.
