Post-ablasion bleeding.

Hello there. I apologise if this is posted in the wrong place but I am really not sure where else I could post it.

I had the ablasion done five days ago. Up until tonight I had what would be considered normal discharge for after the procedure...fluid (from weeping) with some pink and "other" stuff mixed in...then as of this evening it switched to all red. About the amount of what would be considered "normal" for me with my period. If this happened within the first day or so I would have completely dismissed it but where it was not the case for five days, I am not sure what to think. Should I be calling the doctor? Or am I just having a delayed response to the procedure?

Any clue would be appreciated.

Hi Teeheenah

There's a rule of thumb that says any bleeding that soaks a pad in an hour requires medical attention.... however, rules of thumb vary by procedure, situation and patient. So any time you are unsure go ahead and call your doctor and find out, okay? (Besides, it's almost the weekend, so ask while the office is still open.)

I really like the site (((Twysmilin))) provided. There's a lot of great info there.

Let us know what you find out and how you are doing, okay?

s,
Beth

I called my doc yesterday because the bleeding got worse. They said that after having an ablation, any bleeding mixed in with the normal discharge from the procedure should be at worst pink. This is bright red, complete with clotting(sorry if that is too graphic)and not acceptable. The good news is that there is medication to try and stop it. They called in a prescription for provera to be taken for ten days. It is supposed to stop the bleeding within 24-48 hours and if the bleeding gets worse and/or doesn't stop after 48 hours I am to contact the doctor again for further care.

In the meantime, my return to work has been delayed until the bleeding has stopped. Fortunately my boss has been very understanding about it all.

Thank you Twyla for the hugz and pointing me in the right direction!

Hugz right back atcha!
Teeheenah
