Question on LAVH-Have gotten period!

Hi!
I'm scheduled for my surgery on Wed. Aug. 29th-- I have just gotten my period (uterus thought it would give me one last blast before it goes... )
Does anyone know if this is going to affect my having my operation? I'm going to call Doc's office bright and early tomorrow (monday), but was wondering if anybody here has had this lovely problem.

Question on LAVH-Have gotten period!

Sorry ... I don't have any advice to offer. I remember reading that having your period doesn't usually present a problem. However, I don't know if that is a general rule or specific to a certain procedure. I'm sure the Sisters will know!

But I wanted to wish you luck with your surgery! Take care - I'll see you on the other side! : )

Question on LAVH-Have gotten period!

I was on my period the day I went to my preop. I ask if it was going to be a problem with the surgery..since the usually last 7 to 15 days. They told me it was no problem...but it stopped the day before my surgery(shortest one I have had in years).

Best of Luck!!!

Question on LAVH-Have gotten period!

I was having one of those heavy-duty periods the day of the surgery -- I asked the doc about that and she told me it didn't matter at all -- and that I wouldn't be having one when I got out of surgery. She was right! It's SO NICE not to have a period (I had it more days ON then off each month and they were HEAVY). I don't know how to act -- LOL! I mean I started having my period when I was 11 yrs old, so that was 31 years of ol' Aunt Flo and I'm glad to get rid of that ol' biddy! LOL!

Anyhoo, to answer your question -- according to my GYN, it doesn't matter if you're on your period when you go in to have the surgery.

Good luck!!

Question on LAVH-Have gotten period!

I've heard that you can almost guarantee your period will start before surgery. I think from what I've read it doesn't matter at all.... even for vaginal procedures. I had an abdominal one and it wasn't an issue at all for that I know. Take care. You are going to do GREAT!
