LOL That is a true friend you have! It must be the moriphene and whatever things they give you that one does not even care. I have thought how many times did I sit somewhere in pain because of gas and waited! Hmmm maybe I won't do that anymore. Just kidding!

Re: 1 week post op

Hi. I am only day 5 and not sure where the time has gone. The bladder has a new sling and the uterus and cervix have parted. I was told to massage the bladder and move around a bit each time I urinated... Which has left me with a red toilet bowl each time. Did anyone else experience some bleeding after moving? Where's the line between some blood and too much blood?

Hi -
I'm Po day 6 but I wasn't told to massage myself, sounds painful! I haven't had any bleeding but have read it's common. The discharge nurse told me too much bleeding is soaking through a pad an hour. So I would gauge it that way. Happy healing!

Re: 1 week post op

Oh my goodness I feel for you, I have no bleeding since leaving the hospital at all, only have some pain in my tummy when I know I have over done things, then go and have a lie down for a cat nap usually fine after that, sending hugs and hope you make a fast recovery urethra xx

Re: 1 week post op

I tend to overdue.... yesterday I walked around the block, changed my sheets, did a load of laundry, napped... my biggest mistake, I have a bed table and yesterday I was sitting up and leaning back.... duh... then I had spotting, I only took one Tylenol because I was not really hurting last night... this morning... I was sore. So back to bed. I do not get a prize for taking less pills. That uterus covers a lot of territory in there! It is going to hurt, it is going to take time to recover. So.... back to sleep...

1 week post op

I had a vaginal hysterectomy with anterior and posterior repair 6 days ago. Healing is slower than I expected but I need to remind myself. I'm 50, not 20. Surprised by the changes to my digestive tract. Guess I underestimated effects of surgery on how my body would resume functioning. It is different. Wondering if it will stay this way or return to pre-surgery state? I am not eating anything more than cereal now because I had a small piece of pepperoni pizza and thought I was going to die from the digestive pain after eating it. Anyone have this experience? If so, is it short term or will I now have to avoid pizzas?

Here are links to recovery threads just for posts like this one. They are grouped by when you had your surgery so you can talk to and relate with women who have had surgery the same week that you did. The threads are full of helpful hints, tips, and tons and tons of support.

Recovery thread for those who had surgery Nov 11 - Nov 17

Recovery thread for those who had surgery Nov 19 - Nov 24

Recovery thread for those who had surgery Nov 25 - Dec 1

Of course you should feel free to ask questions here in post-op too. I wish you all happy healing!

Re: 1 week post op

I had TAH 11/11. Still foods hit me and the gas can be insane. Not always with food that you would think would cause GI issues. So-3 weeks post op-still GI issues occasionally. Not sure when that resolves.
