I am 2 weeks post op and am doing really well. I have been getting all sorts of supportive cards from the folks at work. Today I got a card from the one person that I really just can't stand. Anyway...it starts out nice enough...hope you feel better soon. Then...don't rush back to work. Finally...even though it was just a minor operation, you need to take it easy.

Granted...I was very lucky and was able to have my complete hysterctomy laproscopically. (sp? not sure of the abbreviation) But...I am not sure where she gets "minor" from. Am I over-reacting? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks!

Glad to see you doing so well.
That is so funny..a card from someone you dont like.
When I was diagnosed with cervical cancer I was at work and got the "call" from the Dr. Needless to say I was standing in front of someone I just can not stand. She saw my reaction and how I was crying and she came to me and hugged me. I was like what the heck...lol. I am an assistant manager at our local goodwill store adn have several regular customers that I have become very close to. They always come in and come straight to me asking if there is anything they can do or if I am alright. It really helps to have friends like that.
Please do not over do your self. Yes you had the "minor" surgery as opposed to the other form of hysts...however surgery is surgery and you must be careful! I do hope you continue to feel well and have a speedy recovery!
Bye!

Hysterectomy is major surgery and I think it's obvious what is not to like about this individual!

Thanks for the support! This is the first time I have started a thread...most of the time I just read and say "yes, I feel like that, too."

I have to say there is one major PLUS to being careful after surgery...today is the usual day I bring down all of the holiday things from the attic...I am here writing to all of ya'll and my family is bring down the stuff. Wow. This is kinda nice.

Nextonlist,

I wouldn't put too much worry into the card you received or what she wrote. I did not receive anything from my coworkers. Count your blessings they are thinking of you!!

I had the same kind of hyst you did. When I went in to get my stitches out, the dr. reminded me "Just because the outside of your body looks like it had minor surgery, the inside of your body had major surgery."
I guess some people just don't know what they are talking about. Take care of yourself!

Try not to let it bother you! She just doesn't know what she is talking about! When you get back to work, thank her for the card and if she says anything about it being minor, give her a little hyster 101! Hope you're healing well!
