Not sure what to make of managers comments

She could always utilize a temp agency if she really needed to. My hubby was out on disability for most of last year and when year end coming up they were ready to go to a temp agency for help however he recovered suddenly and was able to return to work.

Hi Campergurl, I'm surprised that your manager is actually a lady and she had asked such question...I could understand when my manager asked if hyster is considered a major op. He didn't really understand what was involved. Anyway, it doesn't really matter. What is more important now...is your health. Don't worry. Take the 6 weeks leave and rest. I did. It was worth it.

Since you are in Canada, I assume your mgr did not return to work after 3 weeks but took 6 months maternity?

My staff were freaking a bit and one questioned the length of my leave. They also wanted assurances that I would be available to them by phone and email (as I typically am). The answer was no. No one is irreplaceable, they will function without me.
