Irritable uterus?

When I was pregnant 22 years ago I went into early labor and had to be on bed rest for 5 months. I was extremely sick and it was a terrible pregnancy- hence why I never had anymore children. It was a normal delivery however.
I was told I had an "irritable uterus". Has anyone ever heard of that?
I know there is blood flow to fibroid stalks.. is there much blood loss during the cauterizing/cutting of these during the hysterectomy.

Re: Irritable uterus?

Hi nd2know -

I never heard of an irritable uterus.

I do not know about blood loss with fibroids, but would think that the doctors would be prepared to control any bleeding that might occur. That is also why it is so important to follow all of your doctor's pre-op instructions, including not taking asprin or ibuprofin for 2 weeks prior to surgery, as well as other restrictions they will give you.
