Re: If you had a hysterectomy, did you keep your ovaries?

I lost my left ovary two years ago and we were going to try to save my right but I decided to leave it up to him . Good thing too......according to him out looked like a** and was bigger then my uterus which was the size of a12 week pregnancy . No wonder there was no room in there....lol .

Mine are gone, had a cyst in one and my doctors were concerned about cancer in my future

Kept one, other one had a cyst. My choice, because I wanted to avoid menopause.

I had an emergency hysterectomy and my dr made the decision to take everything. My organs were all full of, and fused together with, endometriosis. So she took my ovaries out.

Re: If you had a hysterectomy, did you keep your ovaries?

NO... I do not know the medical name, however, I had EVERYTHING removed plus lymph glands.

Re: If you had a hysterectomy, did you keep your ovaries?

The dr took everything. My older sister had ovarian cancer, so keeping one would not have been a good idea, plus I was having hormonal issues before surgery, so obviously they were not working properly.

Re: If you had a hysterectomy, did you keep your ovaries?

I kept the overies but had the tubes removed. Since I was pre-menopause it was recommended that I keep the overies (unless there were concerns seen during the surgery.) Physician recommended removal of the tubes as a preventative measure but leaving the overies intact.
