When will I have a bowel movement?

My surgery was May 2 and I came home last night and still no movement? Help I am getting worried.

2T of Milk of Magnesia (Mint-kinda yuck) worked for me! Too overnight, but it was smooth sailing!

I had a bowel movement 4 days after surgery. When I finally did I thought it would be normal but it was so small. After a couple of days I am pretty normal but I thought it would take forever. Drink lots of water and good luck!!

I eat a very high fiber diet and took these high fiber bars I have called Gnu bars to the hospital with me. I ate one the night of my surgery and one in the morning and had a BM before i left the hospital that day. I have gone every day since, many days twice in a day. I say high fiber is the way to go. I eat 2 cups of fiber one everyday for breakfast. Hope you get some relief soon.

Milk of Magnesia (MOM) comes in a cherry flavor. It's not too bad.

I have been taking organic Flax seed daily with plain yogurt or sprinkled on my cereal for over a year, and it really seemed to help, even though I was taking 3 iron pills daily....before my hysterectomy last month.

I had my TVH Tuesday, came home Friday evening and finally had a BM Saturday! I took Colace every day at the castle. My BM was green liquid Is this normal? I felt like I'd had an enema, it's stopped now. I have a nurse coming to see me tomorrow and I'll mention it to her.

It took me 5 days after my surgery!

I celebrated my first BM Take colace or another stool softener. MOM works, but sometime too much and too fast. Drink plenty of fluids and walk around. Eat freash fruit and make sure you aare getting enough fiber in your diet.

Sometimes it takes awhile for things to wake up and get moving. Are you passing gas?

Hang in there - it will happen, you might just have to help it along.

I am beginning to wonder if I am ever going to have a BM, again...lol. I took MOM the day I came home, again yesterday; and still nothing. The gas is just rolling out but that is just it. Eating fruits and fiber, doing everything that I am supposed to be doing, I think. I am going to call the doctor today. You would think two doses of MOM would do the trick, no?
