I am so tired of my swelly belly as well. I have embraced my black yoga pants.
Let's face it, you don['t have to do yoga to wear these! They have been my
Uniform since my surgery. I wore jeans for the first time last week. I'm back
In the stretchy pants this week

I did the exact same thing. Made it a few hours in jeans. We have matching yoga uniforms!

Re: 6 weeks post hysterectomy: Huge tummy pooch - need tummy tuck?
agree with you all - HATE the tummy pooch :-( i had my surgery almost 9 months ago and it is MUCH better than it was,but i still can not wear most of my jeans comfortably and miss my pre-surgery body and flat tummy :-(
i was so depressed about it a month ago i looked into a thing called 'coolsculpting' to help it but it's very expensive and who knows if it would really work on a big incision and pooch like mine.
and i was supposed to have laproscopic so really wasn't prepared for such a big cut. the nerves even still hurt around it. hard to keep my hopes up.
it's depressing so yes, thank goodness for stretchy yoga pants , i guess.
hang in there ladies

It's weird, I looked 6 months pregnant pre-surgery, so my belly now is still MUCH better than it was pre-surgery. That being said, I just wish jeans would fit! I did buy a little extension kit for jeans (for pregnant ladies) to try and make it work these next few months. But yoga pants are my friends in the meantime. My husband doesn't seem to mind. But I would be in trouble if I had a desk job!

6 weeks post hysterectomy: Huge tummy pooch - need tummy tuck?
I saw my doctor and mentioned the tummy pooch issue. She seemed completely shocked that there was a pooch there. Maybe it's not that common but she said to see how it was on a month and if it's still there she would do an ultrasound to see if something has shifted internally. Weird.

Thats weird how your doc never heard of it. My docs told me about it and its common knowledge around on here.
Well good to always get checked out but i would get a second opinion on it since that is very strange your doc didn't know something that is very well known. I even looked it up elsewhere and it everywhere.

Re: 6 weeks post hysterectomy: Huge tummy pooch - need tummy tuck?
Just before my surgery I almost rescheduled to check on a combo surgery. The plastic dr I asked said he didn't recommend them for at least a year because you need to see how your body will heal. He also noted that some ladies gain or feel so much better they can exercise again and loose so an time of leveling out is needed.
Then he asked me why I "wanted to do a combo surgery", I said "$", he said "how long have you had the fibroid pooch", I said "years"...final comment "mam, $ is never a reason, your body won't look 16 because you are not and there is beauty in the acceptance of womanhood. If in a year, you are uncomfortable, not happy, having difficulty with clothes, then I will tell you that you are ready."

Re: 6 weeks post hysterectomy: Huge tummy pooch - need tummy tuck?
I had SAH and tummy tuck on 9/2. I am swelled up to same size as pre surgery. I had a lot of mixed feelings about the tummy tuck and my gyn surgeon was not happy I was doing it. She felt my stomach was not big and it is for women who have a lot of hanging skin from pregnancies.
My pooch was mainly from my fibroids, but I was worried that I would have a flabby belly and decided to do it. Considering I don't look that great right now, I have no idea of the final outcome. However, the stomach is flat even though I am swollen, if that makes any sense.
It was a big emotional thing for me. I felt vain and stupid, but I thought maybe I could get something positive out of a surgery that I was not happy about.
The SAH DID make me happy, though. I no longer have random bleeding and heaviness. If I have a flat stomach in 6 months, even better.
There is so much swelling with the hyster, I think most will look better after more healing.

Re: 6 weeks post hysterectomy: Huge tummy pooch - need tummy tuck?
pilat..You are brave. I was cut abdominal at 15 to remove a very large cyst on right ovary. my stomach went flat as I was 15. Then after my first child which was vaginally my stomach hot the undreaded pooch. Never ever went away with all ab workouts out there. I'm now 45 and am two weeks in recovery with a swelly belly ; ( I told myself before my hysterectomy I'd get a tummy tuck. But I think i couldn't handle getting cut again and the lengthy recovery. I guess im gonna live with my little friend the tummy pooch. I'll just keep up with my ab workouts... I hope you feel great and love your tummy..jealous a bit ))
