12 hours away- Thinking about Sex

Hi Ladies!
This is my first post. I have spent weeks reading the site. My surgery is at 530am....11 hours away. I should have joined earlier. But better late than never. This is my problem...Without getting into my personal business, I will say that I am not afraid of the hysterectomy itself, but how sex will be after. I am so nervous that I am obsessing over it. I like sex every day and I generally have it several times a week. I understand that is not the norm. But it's normal for me. I am a happy person and I find intimacy is better than prozac. Next would be going out for sushi....my other favorite thing. LOL

So, It would be really nice if some of you ladies who have had a positive experience could talk to the ladies post op about this....I have read tons of pages of threads on the site discussing sexual problems, pain, dryness, no libido, etc.....but no great happy stories of success. Believe me when I say it has all been really helpful and informative, but I want to hear happy stories before I go under the knife. I am having second thoughts now, and I have even though about not showing up...just the jitters, I suppose. Maybe most Hystersisters just feel they don't have time to post the really positive stuff, but hearing some good happy stories, post op, would be good in this forum my opinion. So, can anyone please give some really good positive feedback on sex afterwards, how soon it was good for you, etc.? I think its good to have both sides of it all, not just the possible bad points.

Well first of all, good luck tomorrow!
And yes there are plenty of great, positive stories of sex after a hysterectomy here on the board! I've even read some women say it was better than before.
I had lSH and my first post op was 12 days then at my 2nd post op which was 20 days my dr told me I was healing very nicely and that I was cleared for sex at week 4.
I don't think that's the norm but I only went ahead because my dr said it was ok. And it was great!!! I'd say better than before also but that's because I had a huge fibroid and I think it was blocking the blood flow to certain areas and so I may have been "numb" for lack of a better word.

I am 8weeks post op. I was cleared for sex at 6 weeks. I had a TAH with my cervix removed and a vaginal cuff in place. I had sex at six weeks. I will admit I was nervous about it hurting. Actually terrified! As a result the first few times weren't the greatest. But now only two weeks later back to business as usually

I'm 9 weeks post-op from a lavth/bso and when dr at 6 weeks gave me the ok, we waited one more day and WOW! It was so good we had sex every other day. Sex is better now then before. My problem is my dh is out of state for his job he left a week ago and won't be home until april 10th. Let's just say I'm going to attack him when he gets home. LOL. Sending you well wishes on your surgery and recovery.

Dear VB, I was so glad to see your post next to mine! Sub-consciously I've been thinking about the results of having my cervix and uterus romoved and dreaming my sex life and labido returning better than ever after the surgery. After healing of course). I've also been researching the testosterone effects on quality of female sexual responses. I believe we'll have some control in the desires and arousal absent of pain aspects which could definitly lead to great results in the long run! I pray for that anyway! You're in my prayers for tomorrow and don't worry, things will be fine! And the icon was perfect! I'll be watching for your posts and following your recovery. My surgery date is April 7th.
