3 wks post double surgery, LAVH & Gallbladder removed

Hello to all my new sisters in hyster!

I had LAVH and gallbladder removed. I was in the hospital one day, and came home to be on my own. The gallbladder was found to be disteded, full of bile, and polyp'd though it passed all their function tests. I have less pain and weirdness in that area now and am grateful to be rid of it!

The ovaries, tubes, cervix and uterus were removed and most everything had cysts, polyps, and fibroids. They had trouble removing the ovaries, and I'm still hurting in both those spots, as well as in the cervical area. My uterus was hard, scarred and difficult to remove.

The most unexpected thing for me is that I had intense pain for either event in the bathroom. It was like my bladder had problems letting down and then emptying completely. My entire torso has just been "stoved up". I had no bleeding at all, preferred Motrin to pain meds only used for the first two days, just couldn't deal with the residual headache from it. The hotflashes reared up about the third day out, and I began taking premarin despite my prior opinion, out of desperation, at my ten day post op appt. I am still flashing, weepy and sleepless, so I will call doc so she can increase dosage. I had good results from Amberen during my peri and I hope to be able to switch back to Amberen from Premarin soon.

I try to listen to my body and don't do it if it hurts. I was relieved to read that others had dizziness even after they quit taking pain meds, what a comfort to have sisters! I'm very uncomfortable standing and walking due to pain/pressure in cervical area and am not even ready to sit in hard restaurant chairs; so for now, am staying comfortable in the recliner most of the time!

My son, dad, and male best friend just don't get it.
Thanks for the sisterhood, it helps!

Re: 3 wks post double surgery, LAVH & Gallbladder removed

I also had a double surgery, I had laparoscopic Gallbladder surgery and an Abdominal Hysterectomy on Dec 15th. I am almost 5 weeks post op and feeling pretty well. My body looks like a war zone with all my incisions but I am so glad I will never have another gallstone attack again. Hope you are feeling better soon!

[quote=dell1064;3665353] It was like my bladder had problems letting down and then emptying completely. QUOTE]

I told my doctor that I had no "push power", and when I think I have completely finished, I start to stand up and can urinate about the same amount again. My doctor explained that the bladder actually is attached to the uterus, so they have to surgically separate the two of them. The bottom of the bladder is raw for a few weeks, and the bladder stops working well. He said that usually turns around by the 9th week.
