Hot Tummy and burning incision

My Stomache feels very warm hope this is not a sighn of infection and have this awful burning sensation on the left part of my incision, 1wk post was doing so well until today could not even walk or get into my car with this burning sensation, molton's are not doing anything for me and my doctor would not refill my vicadins, I would be okay if this burning stops, how can I soothe this and what does it mean when your tummy is hot

warmth usually mean infection. I would call your doc or go to the ER!!

Re: Hot Tummy and burning incision

That is how the infection in my incision felt when it started....it was doing pretty well, and then it started to sting and burn, then developed a very hard, painful spot just above the incision...if this gets worse, or does not improve you might want to let your doctor take a look...also, is it red appearing? Ice packs can help with the warmth, though they did not do much for me at the time...hope you feel better soon....

Re: Hot Tummy and burning incision

I'm no doctor but I was warned that if I felt burning sensations to get it checked as it was a key sign of infection. Do you have a temp?

My advice - get your wound looked at. No harm in doing that at all.

Re: Hot Tummy and burning incision

From what my Dr. told me...if you are running a temp of more than 100.4 then you need to be seen ASAP....if you have had these symptoms for more than 12-24 hrs...can't say that I would wait until tomorrow to go to your doctor....guess what...one of the doctors from that practice will be on call at the hospital...if another practice is on call...tell them who did your surgery and they need to call your doctor. (this is how we do it with our practice)...no need in letting an infection simmer (good word) if there is one for another 24 hrs to cause more damage if you can get something fixed now. I am not saying you have one, but if you have a fever of 100.4+, have redness, warmth, swelling, burning.....um...yeah...I'd say those would be good reasons to take my rear to the ER. Or at least I tell my patients to do so. Hope you are ok...
