Staples any relief?

Hello sisters hope all r healn well and getn on with the rulin of our reign. I still have some staples in and I would swear that I can feel them pulling on my belly. I have dry skin peeln around them. I go on Friday to get them taken out. Need to know how do I get relief from the pain/ uncomfortableness. I would take them out myself if I could w/o further harm to my belly area.

Re: Staples any relief?

I felt immediate relief after having my staples removed, stopped that dreadful pulling. The dry skin flakes on its own, I would be reluctant to put anything near the incision.

Re: Staples any relief?

I had 16 staples after my surgery...I had them for 10 days and they are NO fun! I can tell you, it really didn't hurt when they took them out and OH what a relief!

I would also be reluctant to put anything on them, even w/the dry skin. I would not take any chances of causing infection. The staples will be irritated...your body is trying to heal and its not meant to heal to the staples...

Hang in there! It's only a few days! You need them there and they will be out soon!

Re: Staples any relief?

What you are experiencing is normal, but irritating, I know - had staples with previous abdominal surgeries, and they do pull. Don't put anything on your incision; keep it clean and dry. Hang in there!

Re: Staples any relief?

I am in the same boat. All of the staples on the right side are pulling badly and the skin is red and puffy. I decided to try something that I normally use for my hemorrhoids. I have these little ice packs that are covered in sterile cloth that I keep in the freezer. The name of them is CryoStat. They are usually used to put on the outside of the anus and they work wonderfully. I just stuck one on my sore area and it fit perfect. I laid down with it for about half an hour and it took the swelling and pulling away! If you can't find these special "ice packs" then you can use regular ones. I bought mine at CVS. Let me know if you try them and how they worked out for you! I get these darned staples out tomorrow thank goodness!
