post op follow up appt?

What is the average time between surgery and a follow up appointment with the doctor?

Depending on your surgery and Dr 5 to 14 days from the post I have seen. Mine was 10 days with lavh. When you are released from the hospital they should advise when you should schedule your first appt. If not you should call your Dr. Best wishes

My post op visit was today, 2 which is 6 weeks. It definitely depends on the doctor and the type of surgery you had. I had a vaginal hysterectomy so my recovery is different.

My doc said 4 to 5 weeks, the discharge nurse didn't know so I called his office and they made appt for Sept. 19th. - in 5 weeks.

I was told 4-6 weeks; I had an uncomplicated LAVH.

There is no such thing as an "average" time - it's too variable. It varies not only with type of surgery but also from doctor to doctor.

I saw my gyn onc 4 weeks after surgery. In between, I had my staples replaced with Steri-strips by a nurse at a local clinic at 13 days.

PS No matter when your post-op appt is, don't hesitate to call your doc beforehand if anything odd or disturbing happens!

thanks Surprised! I wasn't even thinking about all the different variables that would come into play. Guess I'm in the post-anxiety phase if that is such a thing. I'll try to calm my many "oh my gosh!" thoughts.
