Just when I think I've got it figured out... VENT
I had my last laproscopic surgery for endo 5 years ago. For the first 3 years, my periods were pretty typical... pain for 3 days before bleeding and during the 7 days of bleeding... cycles were 28 days apart.
Then for the last 2 years, they've gotten progressively more painful, for longer and the bleeding lasts longer... to the point that I was bleeding more days of the month than not. Not unusual, I know.
However, since the end of Feb 2004, things have changed a whole bunch. The Feb cycle was when things went downhill... it started out "normal" (for me) but then one day, I passed a tennis ball sized clot and the bleeding ceased. I still had cramps like normal and then clear fluid discharge (I thought it was urine) and everything in my abdomen felt like it had moved south.
I went to the GYN, he said my uterus had a slight prolapse, but not to worry, if I was having a hyster anyhow (which I wanted even before the new developments), we wouldnt mess with it.
My last cycle was nutty again... the pain that didnt go away after Feb's cycle got much worse and the first day I bled so much that I spend much of the day sitting on the toilet, it poured out so fast that it sounded like I was urinating constantly!! 2nd day, lighter bleeding... then stopped... still pain and cramping, but no bleeding.
What the heck could be causing such a dramatic change? The abdominal and vaginal u/s didnt show much at all. The GYN isn't that concerned, mostly because it'll be coming out soon... but isnt this weird?
Nevermind the exhaustion... its crazy. I cant do too much, or my belly swells and gets heavy and pulls down a whole bunch. I have to have at least ONE nap a day, plus a full night's sleep or I'm extremely cranky and good for nothing. I have a hard time focusing and paying attention when ppl talk to me... I kind of zone out and nod or say uh huh..hmm... yeah.
I get to choose one strenuous thing to do each day... maybe grocery shopping... maybe walking the dogs around the block (my DH does it on the days I choose something else)... maybe grooming my horse.
I dont lift anything too heavy... it also makes my insides feel worse... laying flat on my back feels best....
Blah. Can't wait until I get to recover from surgery... I should be totally stir crazy by then!

Just when I think I've got it figured out... VENT
I hate that our bodies are so predictable and yet so...unpredictable. I actually thought I was getting a free day yesterday, as in free to go without a pad but by the end of the day I was cramping and spotting....I skipped the pad anyway with no care for my undies just out of protest!
I do totally understand about only picking one physically taxing chore per day. Today I am having to move my office from the 3rd floor to the 2nd. Plenty of people have offered to help but I'm so stubborn that I told them I could do it on my own. Well, after moving the 1st very large box I was out of breath, dizzy, and started having palpatations. So, here I am, veging in front of this site until I'm ready to move another box.

I've read so many posts where sisters' bodies have gone even whackier just before surgery...maybe it's God's way of letting us know that we made the right decision!
Hope you are well

Wow I have had the same problem!!!! For the last 3 weeks I have been on down with the heating pad! Every time I stand up it feels like everything is going to fall out!!! I can't get anything done! It is realy hard with a 20 month old daughter. She even brings me the heating pad as soon as I sit down and puts it on my tummy.

It's as if my body knew I was terminating the relationship with the uterus. My last period before surgery was less aggravating than usual. Kind of like having a good hair day before a hair cut. Just to mock you.
The period before the very last one was the mother of all periods. I too spent time over the commode just letting the clots drop and the blood run.

Akita:
I think you are right about our bodies and God telling us we are making the right decision. I was kind of unsure if I was rushing into things until my last period. Whoa - don't want to go through that again - and I thought God was telling me "you need to do this". We do need to listen to our bodies!
