The Countdown - 1/17

January 17 has seemed so far away but the reality has set in now. Reading all the messages and getting as informed as possible has really helped me over the last few weeks feel more comfortable about my decision and given me a positive outlook. Now that I am on the actual countdown and doing all the house and office preparations, I am beginning to feel my knees get weak! I have never had any surgeries or hospitalizations other than two children w/normal births, so I am terrified. I have been through lots of surgeries with my husband so he has been a big comfort in reassuring me, but still.... I could so easily run scared, but I won't. I am having a TAH/BSO w/possible rectocel repair. Don't really understand all that is involved with rectocel repair and feel kind of stupid for not inquiring more of the doctor earlier. Tomorrow I have my pre-op exam done so hopefully I will remember all the additional questions I have. Most of my questions, thankfully, I have found all my answers and then some right here. My prayers and thoughts are with you as you enter the castle on January 17. I understand how terrified you must be. I am 2 1/2 weeks away from my surgery date and I know I will feel the same way you do today. I do feel scared and terrified at times and at times I feel strong and just want to get it over with. I know this is something I must do as well. Wishing you an uneventful stay at the castle.

Well, you don't have long to go before you are on your way to the castle. You will do fine. I was terrified too and when it was all over I wondered why. It was much easier than I had built it up in my mind to be. I had never had surgery either or been in the hospital except for the birth of my 2 sons and it all seemed so intimidating to me. Take some deep breaths and we'll all be here for you when it's all over and you are back here telling us your castle story! Now, in the meantime here are some , , s! Try not to fret too much! It's going to be alright.

Hi! My date is the day before yours on the 16th. I am scared to death also but it is eather this or bleed to death. I was in ICU the week before Christmas where they gave me 5 units of blood. I was given the GYN on call. She is very sweet, Tiny and PREGNANT!! I hope her water does not break during surgery as she is due next mo. Good Luck and keep in contact- DV

I know how you feel. I am also scheduled for surgery 1/17/02. I also have pre-op tomorrow. And I too also am having rectal repair. And last but not least I too am weak in the knee's and a little (allot) scared. Hope everything goes well for you. Email me if you get a chance and tell me about your pre-op visit.

I am right there with ya! I go in for my surgery on 1/16/02 and am very nervous. I was scheduled for this on 12/19/01 and you would think that I would be well adjusted to the idea by now but I'm not. It is really starting to dawn on me. I have had 1 LEEP procedure and 1 Lap procedure done for endometriosis. My endo was back in 3 mo. I am in pain 24-7 of some sort. It has just really hit me today. I realized at the office today that I only have 2 days to wrap up a few weeks worth of work. I am starting to freak out to put it mildly. I go in tomorrow for my pre-op appt. Keep in touch!

Hi.....I am having my TAH/poss. loss of one ovary on 1/17 also. I am nervous about it also. Keep your hopes high!! I dont have my pre-op until the morning of my surgery...so I get to look forward to both within hours......hehehe
