Re: What to expect from here...?

I felt the same way but everyday it does get better. Recovery is 3 steps forward and 2 steps back. I was still taking pain meds at 2 weeks out. By the time 4 weeks came, everything started to get a whole lot better. It just takes time. If you feel that you are having too much pain etc, you should see your doc. I did at 4 weeks and he said I was progressing fine...

Re: What to expect from here...?

I'm glad that you found us! I felt the same as you at 2 weeks. Keep getting lots of rest (take a nap during the day if you need one ), drink lots of water, take frequent short walks, and use your pain meds if you need them. You are still early in your recovery, it gets better but gradually. I found it helped to think in terms of weeks rather than days. Here is the link to you Post Op Recovery Thread. Here you can post with other women who had surgery the same week as you, and you will find what you're experiencing is normal. Hang in there, it gets better!

Re: What to expect from here...?

i had mine on the 14th also. i'm so sorry you're in so much discomfort. you should talk to your doc for better pain management. try to keep positive and keep in mind your body will heal and that some time of healing is better than the lifetime of pain that you could have been in. Staying positive i think is whats helping me personally. best wishes, I hope you're feeling better soon.

Hang in there... Week three was surprisingly (and disappointingly!) hard for me. I started to get a lot of new cramps / aches / twinges / pulls, and I got this horrible feeling where my cuff was stitched - like there was something up there irritating the heck out of me that had to come OUT! I shared this on my surgery week's recovery forum, and SEVERAL women at the same stage said things like, "oh my gosh, YES! It's like a big ol' tampon is stuck up there driving me nuts!" LOL. Didn't help my physical discomfort, but made me feel better emotionally. 😊

I saw my doctor last week, at 3-1/2 weeks post-op, and because of my griping (!) she checked my cuff, and assured me all was healing normally, so I think it's just part of the process. She encouraged me to continue taking it easy, but to try to get out for some fresh air for / short walk a few minutes each day - for my sanity's sake - and to stay on top of my meds (she suggested three ibus every six hours rather than 2 every 4) and 2 advil PM + 1 regular ibu (still a total of 600mg, plus the sleep aid) at night. Xanax also helped me relax thru the day / not freak out over my ongoing bladder and bowel issues. That's another thing, btw... She said I was definitely backed up, and started me on Miralax, a safe and gentle laxative, one adult dose every morning with some juice, and one colace (a softener) every night. It took about 4 days to kick in, but once I got going more regularly, the pain in my gut and cuff zones lessened greatly. All that gas and stool is really uncomfortable in there where all that work was done / healing is happening.

I am 4 weeks post-op now, and really feel I have turned a corner energy and pain-wise, though I'm still far from feeling "normal" and spend much of the day under my heating pad. Getting outside each day does help my mood, and napping less helps me sleep better at night. I also am doing the pillow between the knees thing to sleep on my side, and another small pillow to hug into my chest to keep me from rolling onto my belly (ouch). When I lounge in bed, I find a pillow under my knees lessens strain in my achy areas, as well.

Hope this helps!

Oh, and to make sure your chills are hormonal and not fever / infection, check your temp a few times a day. Just to be sure. 👍

Things will get better SLOWly but surely. Had no idea what a process this was going to be!! Focus on the positive... Better to be two weeks POST-op than PRE-op! ❤️

If you have had your cervix removed, you have a vaginal cuff. This is the term used for the area at the end of the vagina which is sewn shut after the cervix is removed.
