4 days post hysterectomy: crossfitter - my legs are getting extremely achy & sore & wake me up in the night

Help!

I'm a crossfitter and I'm achy. I understand and have obeyed rest & recoup, however my legs/body are used to being pushed to the max daily. My legs are getting extremely achy & sore & wake me up in the night. Are there any suggestions?

Surgery was 11/7-so I know this is a weeks earlier forum, however I asked the same question in my forum & no responses yet. I just need some ideas-I'm sure I'm not the only one with this issue. Also if there is a better group/forum to ask this same question on I'd appreciate any input!
Are you up and walking, Meri? Don't be afraid to walk outside, and remember that at this point, it's better to do frequent short walks than to try for fewer, longer walks.

Yes I've walked & walked & walked I've walked about 3 miles throughout the day since I've been home (on day 5 now). Yesterday I used the stairs to test how I'd feel, I rested & recouped throughout & I'm able to wake up each day recouped so I haven't over done it-but my legs & now arms are feeling the lack of strength training.

I've had knee surgery before, this is obviously different, but I've tried their quad isolated workouts-but even those aren't enough.

It's just a double edge sword for me right now. I'm listening to my body as far as recoup & recover knowing it's best - but in the meantime I have to ignore my body while it's telling me to workout. Ugh.

My own lil pity party. Hopefully this starts more discussion - as I'm sure I'm not the only one with these aches & pains as an athlete.

Thanks for responding!

Just a dumb question.. are you taking any pain meds with benedryl in them? ( I took for a bit after stopping oxycodone.. just to sleep. I got a severe case of pain and leg 'twichies'... that kept me awake. Not sleeping soundly is part of the deal I guess.. but once I stopped taking it I didn't have the leg issues.

Now, I am not a crossfitter.. far from it. Just a possibility tho.. Hope you feel better!

Nope nothing with Benadryl - thanks for the idea though - I'm sure that insight may help someone else looking for answers!

Try pickles... have some pickles with dinner and then a banana before bed...between the salt and potassium it should calm your restless legs... are you doing whole30? If so, over salt you food right now...

I eat paleo-but I have increased my sodium. I finally hit a wall today, cried from the achy pains, put a heating pad on them & just tried to get through it. I walked a mile 2 times today-debated on taking 2# weights to make my legs work harder. But I'm hoping this is the bottom of it- I have increased the potassium in take- it's just atrophy pains. Thanks for the suggestions-I think I'll drink some pickle juice tomorrow!
