Re: Castle bound in the morning....nervous
I got really anxious the night before. I sat in my favorite chair with some pretty stationary writing letters. I wrote individual letters to my children, husband and friends/family that I care about. I wrote a letter to myself telling me not to worry and stay positive. Believe it or not, it really helped me out. I read some books, did some crossword puzzles and watched a movie with my family.
Best wishes!

Re: Castle bound in the morning....nervous
You're in the home stretch girl! The worst part for me was the waiting.
I had my LSH almost a year ago and the day before and day of the surgery went very fast for me. I had to do a bowel prep so that kept me *occupied* I double-checked my packing, paperwork and spent time reading and with DH and the pups.
Before I knew it, it was early morning (surgery was at 7:30am) and my LSH went smoothly. No complications, I had a smooth recovery and it's the BEST decision I ever made regarding my health.
Take a relaxing walk/bath, read, watch TV, visualize how much more improved your life will be post-surgery. This all helped me the day before, well..., with the exception of the walk- couldn't stray too far from the restroom...
You will do just great tomorrow!

Good luck!!! The before is a tense day!! You would be crazy if you weren't anxious, or extremely drugged!!! I am hoping that your recovery goes as well as mine!!!

Re: Castle bound in the morning....nervous
The waiting was the worse for me too. The bowel prep made me exhausted the night before. When you get to the castle tell everyone you are nervous and they will all help. My doctor was reassuring and positive and took extra time to talk to me one-on-one before the surgery. All the nurses were positive and answered all of my questions. My surgery nurse helped me visualize me on a Hawaiian beach with an ice cold drink as I went to sleep.
Happy thoughts and prayers. Keep us posted on your progress. Tomorrow you become the princess!!

Re: Castle bound in the morning....nervous
I know excatly how you feel. That last week before mine was nerve racking - with each day getting worse. I tried to keep myself busy the best I could. Tried to sleep the night before but every time I would I woke up thinking we were late (we live an hour away from castle).
Only thing I can say is keep the attitude as postive as possible. Make sure you have everything you need. And take lost of deep breaths.
Prayers for you - I hope you surgery goes smooth and your recovery goes fast!

Re: Castle bound in the morning....nervous
You are completely normal! Tell the nurses about your anxiety tomorrow and they will give you some lovely sedatives *grin* The nurses want to help you be comfortable so the doctor can do her/his job.
My sedatives were so great that I don't even remember being wheeled into the operating room or up to my hospital room.
Good luck tomorrow!

Re: Castle bound in the morning....nervous
Ahhhh......yes - the home stretch! The versed (sp?) they injected into my IV on the morning of my surgery took away all the anxiety from the the day before. The bowel prep kept me very busy as well! LOL Just think, even if you miss out on a lot of sleep - they will PUT you to sleep for the surgery, so not to worry! You will get that rest then! Best of luck to you!!
By this time tomorrow evening you will be pampering yourself as a brand new princess!

Re: Castle bound in the morning....nervous
I was so elated to get there that I was offered "calming candy" at least 3 times and didn't take it. The bowel prep, no food, and general upheaval leading up to surgery left me exhausted and numb. I had wonderful nurses and docs, and we all had alot of laughs prior to the surgery. I told one of the docs that I did not need anything prior to surgery, but to not cheat me on the back-end. I can say that I only remember getting wheeled out of recovery, and seeing my husband and daughter. Don't remember the recovery. Then I remember getting to the room and telling DH to go home and rest. I had my daughter stay and run interference.
I was blessed, and I have no regrets. I hope you have as good as experience!!!!
