So Upset, Hysterectomy in Two Days and Insurance Just Denied! UPDATED: Surgery in January!

I am a mess right now. I've been trying to find out from insurance for the last week if it is approved or denied. Each day still pending. My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. So today at 6pm, after the doctor's office is closed, I make my daily call to insurance and they've denied it.

I am so upset. I've been told by other doctors that because of my heart-shaped uterus, I am not a good candidate for ablation. I've done birth control pills and transexamic acid. The hormones of the birth control left me feeling depressed after time so I went off them. I do not want the Mirena for that reason. We also know from DNA that I've got a higher risk of endometrial and cervical cancer.

I am severely anemic. My treatments are frequent, pricey and leave me ill for weeks after each one. My hematogist has said that I should just get a hysterectomy and she feels that will take care of the problem. I've said no for years but I'm so tired of being on this merry go round and now with our insurance costs having more than quadrupled this year, I'm ready and insurance says no.

They think I need to explore more options which will end up costing a lot more money and we know that they'll end up doing a hysterectomy anyway.

I know the doctor will do a peer to peer review with insurance tomorrow but need to vent because I am just in tears right now. Prayers would be greatly appreciated.

I am praying that everything works out for you. I know it must be stressful to hear that they denied it so close to the surgery date.

I am so sorry you are going through this. Sounds a lot like my story. I was suffering from fibroids. One was 9c. I went to the doctor and she agreed I needed to have a hysterectomy. Up till about 5 days before my surgery, the insurance was denying my request. My dr did a peer to peer and convinced the insurance this was very much needed. I pray your insurance will see this too. Thank you for the replies. It is almost one, the day before my surgery and still no answer. I called the doctor's office and they are working on it but I haven't heard anything since early this morning.

My insurance did the exact same thing. My doctor did the peer review and it was approved. I too was freaking out. have faith. I am sure the doctor will be able to get your surgery approved

Doctor did the peer-to-peer. Despite both my hematologist and OB GYN recommending it, the powers that be in the insurance agency decided it isn't necessary. To say I'm a mess right now is an understatement.
