Under the knife !
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if they know how the DR decides if you get a bikini line cut or a vertical one. My TAH is due 23.03.06,for fibroids mulitples about 5-7 cms.
I've had my pre-op assesment but this was at my local hosp, (my surgery and Dr are at hosp 30 miles away), the nurse could not answer about the incision or wether they staple or stich. Any info would be of help.
Would also like to hear from anyone else with op that date or near abouts.
Thanks

Under the knife !
Hi, I think that the dr determines the type of incision depending on the reason for the hyst, if any extra repairs are needed and sometimes the physical condition of the person. I had a bikini cut when I had my tah/bso for precancerous tumors. It was about 6 or 7 inches long and was closed with staples. I've read posts where some drs use stitches, steri strips or surgical glue. Are you scheduled for a pre op with your dr yet? He/she should be able to answer all your questions.
Best wishes.

my dr said it - vertical cut -was safer for the size of my uterus/fibroid. I'm all for safe, i had staples followed by steri strips. ask your dr.
good luck

I am having a TAH the day before you. My dr. said that because of the size of my uterus from the fibroids, it has to be done abdominally.
Best Wishes to you. Will be waiting for you on the other side.
